Just like a hotel, but with dorm rooms. Very clean, which is the most important factor to us. Would definitely stay again.

Samba Green Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Great hostel, staff were great. Caipirinha night was a highlight! WIFI didn't work in the room we stayed in and no AC, only fans, made for some warm nights, but overall it was a good experience.

Bossa Nova Hostel

Paraty, Brazil

Alan, the owner was great - very helpful and gave us loads of info on the area. Rooms were fine, as per other reviews, they're dated and have no AC. Clean and comfy beds though, and Alan is planning to do lots of renovations - so it's on is way to being a really great hostel. Best aspect was how social it was, common areas encouraged mingling and Alan organised a few nights out which we're great fun. Would recommend!

Hostel Alice

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Good, clean hostel, very close to a subway station. Not very social - common area is reception area which didn't really encourage mingling and no WIFI in private double room, but would definitely recommend.

BA Soho Rooms

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Highly recommend this hostel. It was almost like we rented our own apartment! Great room, incredible location right next to some of the best restaurants (practically across the road from La Cabrera), super clean, great kitchen and absolutely fantastic staff. The manager had perfect English and gave us lots of info, Paulina the cleaner was also brilliant, really lovely. You could easily stay here long term!

Jodanga Backpackers Hostel

Santa Cruz, Bolivia

Very clean, social hostel. Walk into town isn't long - only 15 mins, and its an easy walk! Re other reviews, there are lots of rules, but they all make sense and are in place for guest comfort! No blankets provided unless you ask for one at reception, bit odd given it wasn't hot whe we were there. Great breakfast and common area, would definitely recommend.

Villa Bonita Coroico

Coroico, Bolivia

Hideous. When a hostel includes more photos of its ice cream on its profile than the actual rooms, it's a cause for concern. The room was just horrible, smelled so badly of damp, as did everything in it. Mould all over the ceilings, big gap under the cabin front door (have photos) & no hot water in our cabin, only in the main house. Exposed laser light right above one of the two beds only covered by a sheet affixed to the ceiling. We changed hostels first thing the next day, would never return.

Terrazas del Inca

Machu Picchu, Peru

More like a small hotel. Great room, really comfy bed, super-hot & strong shower and a good breakfast with eggs. Didn't really have a communal area, so there wasn't much atmosphere, but this didn't matter - we only stayed for one night.

Sumac Chaska Hostel

Ollantaytambo, Peru

Amazing hosts, incredibly helpful and gave us loads of tips on what to do around the area. The town itself is so beautiful and we really loved our time at Sumac, so much so we stayed for an additional night. We stayed in the double private room with ensuite. Great room, with a balcony and incredible views. No WIFI in the room and shower had very weak pressure - but this is just to be expected in Peru! Would definitely recommend Sumac.

Good hostel with a large communal area. We got a double room, shared bathroom. Very basic, but OK. As per some of the other reviews, WIFI didnt work in the room and somehow the bathroom floor was always soaking wet. Security is great and in such a huge city, location was good.
