A warm and lovely little hostel with a passionate lady owner who will made you feel so at home! And being next to the main sight - Hanouk Village, was another great point.

Such an excellent place despite its smallish size and with just a couple of staff manning the reception desk and kitchen. Facilities expected of a good hostel were there. Staff was very helpful and gave very detailed travel info on the interesting sites on the island. Highly recommended!

Large hostel and yet capable of maintaining extremely high standards of service. Never had to rush for laundry, kitchen usages or even seatings on the common floor. Great place!

Most expectations of a good hostel are met. Unlike so many others, free wifi here is a great positive! Kitchen is on the small side and was crammed during peak periods. The other negative was their no refund policy: so never ever pay room rates too many days ahead if travel plans are still fluid.

A good hostel in a great location. The only negative point was the tiny window-slit design in the 12-bedder room. Just don't know how could such a tiny opening be able to ventilate and cool the big room. So the room stayed very warm and stuffy until after midnite when the cooler temperature offered a little relief. So beware of the 12-bedder room!

A good hostel that many will be happy with. For those who cooked, the kitchen is on the small side and would likely be packed during 'peak' hours.

At a quiet corner away just about a street away from the main road. Easy access to public transport, 7-11 store, Sogo, food especially in the 'little India' area and Natural Science Museum. Very helpful staff in this rather small peaceful place. However, the only toilet for guys at the lower floor could be a problem during peak period.

A really homey place, small and comfy and in a great location with a friendly owner. But could possibly be negated by a sour-face young lady staff. On the first morning, when I pressed the intercom for help as got problem with opening the main door with the key, she was so grouchy and unhelpful. Got into the hostel and got a 20 sec-earful of 'scolding' in Spanish which luckily, I don't understand. The owner said she wasn't angry but she really was! What more with her wild hand gesturings!

An excellent hostel which should be the sector's benchmark. The one thing to add on will be to provide breakfast. Best aspect is the individual beds in the spacious room. Also the spaciousness of the kitchen and the lounge area. Keep it up!

An excellent place. Could have given full marks if not for the bad ventilation or lack of exhaust in the toilets. All the smell either lingered on or flowed into the rooms. Very helpful and friendly staff, especially the cheerful lady manning the afternoon shift.

Green Milk Hostel

Essaouira, Morocco

It has such a casual and layback atmosphere. Double decked beds built roughly on poles and planks with the lower bed (just a mattress) resting on the floor. Sturdy and not shaky, so no creaking noises. Toilets and lounge area rather dirty. Saw the cleaning lady sweeping the dirty floor in the early morning and using the same broom to sweep the wooden lounging table! The staff were helpful and friendly though. If you joined their dinner, be prepared to eat much later than the stated 9pm time.

The rooms on the ground floor were stuffy due to obvious lack of ventilation. And rather noisy too, being next to the lounge area. The very helpful staff was understanding enough to move me to another bed on the upper floor. The toilets sure need some plumbing and repair works! The hardworking and helpful staff makes the difference here.

Serenata Hostel Coimbra

A hostel with clean beds and sheets in big room, good facilities and friendly staff. However it gets very noisy from around 11pm to 3.30am when big groups of youngsters gather at the pubs drinking and making lots of noises just outside the hostel. If you can sleep through such loud noises and don't mind climbing up some steep steps with your backpack, then this place may be fine.

All the expectations of a good hostel are here. The pool of volunteers really did a good job keeping the place clean and providing good info though the main attractions in the old quarters are just straight down the road from the hostel. Location is also fine; just a short walk from the bus station and less than 10mins to the old quarters. Go for the rooms facing the valley and avoid those facing the main road.

The lady (not the staff from HK) who checked us in was rather curt in reply when we asked for wifi password. It is so easy and simple to reply or pass on the password rather than to retort why we have not read through the 'read list' for it, amongst other information. We did not make a scene as it may have been an exception rather than the rule.
