Vinayak Guesthouse

Really amazing family that runs the place. The roof top restaurant could be better managed and the cleaning situation- but those are my only two gripes, everything else was fantastic- great place to stay in Jaipur!!!!!

Decent hostel if you can't find anything else. Nothing to separate it and pretty hard to get to. Pretty much dealt with a different person every time. Pay cash for things up front as I'm pretty sure they upped our tab at the end.

Rahul Guest House

LOVED this guest house. Wished wifi was stronger and our room was always a fiery inferno- but AMAZING guest house- maybe the best in India. Good cheap food, lovely family! Best place in Varanasi!

Baan Smile Hostel

Great value for money but a bit far from the main things and no beach access. Also REALLY far from the ferry- would be great to get a shuttle going as that was the most stressful part of our trip. Bathrooms smelled insanely bad but rooms were LOVELY with great AC. Loved the rooftop lounge.

Me Mates Place

Basically, they lost our reservation, stole ten dollars from us, sent us to a hostel that was unaffiliated with them and had no idea what was going on, then when we tried to get our money back (deposit and the payment) the man behind the desk threatened us and threatened to find us. SO if you enjoy being threatened and stolen from, stay here! Good news is there's a hundred other hostels in PP with a better location that won't treat you this way!

Shophouse The Social Hostel

Singapore, Singapore

Shophouse is in an amazing location and the dorm rooms are absolutely lovely. Nice beds, clean, great AC. The all day breakfast is fantastic , such a deal. Love the rooftop! Two dampers on my trip- 1. the bathrooms are really bad. Really hot and wet and always very dirty and sketch. 2. Got our laundry done at the hostel, wasn't folded and am missing so many pieces of clothes. Sad about stuff I'd gotten on my trip as souvenirs that are now missing.

Thanks for the great review! We are so sorry about what happened to your laundry, I've dropped you an email, we do have some unidentified laundry, perhaps yours is with us! :) As for the bathrooms, we're making sure to always keep them tip-top so we apologise for the lapse!

Fernloft KL @ Chinatown

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Great location and giant dorm not so bad for the fact that is on the cheaper side of KL. The bathroom however was the most deplorable I've seen in a hostel yet. No words- just emotions. Def detracted from the stay. Also wifi in room is non existent if that's a thing that matters to you. Staff is chill- depends on who you get for kindness/hospitality.

Oaklands Lodge

PERFECT hostel. Stayed at Bamber House my first time in Auckland. This is even closer to the DARLING village of Mt. Eden which made it even more perfect! Everything was amazing. Couldn't ask for more in a hostel.

Base Wellington

Seriously always choose Base as a last option. Nomads and YHA are so much better and usually somehow cheaper. Stayed at a couple Bases before we figured this out. Stayed at Nomads Wellington on the way back and it was AMAZING. Base is over priced, gross, run down and smells.

Bamboo Beach

Nadi, Fiji

Bamboo is absolutely the best hostel to stay at in Nadi. It is very basic. Yet very clean and safe. Here's the thing though. Only book one night in Nadi. There's nothing to really do here. Then, when you get to bamboo, coordinate a trip to the North island. The farther islands away from the mainland are the prettier ones. Nadi downtown is pretty terrible in that anyone who sees you are a westerner will try and sell you island excursions or other things. It sucks.
