The Casablanca Hostal

Arequipa, Peru

Perfect location, right on the main square. Photos don't do it justice, rooms and en-suite really nice! Great value for money.

Backpackers San Pedro

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Great atmosphere and common area. Two kitchens fully equipped. Impossible to find without a map, and even then a challenge. Don't stay if you don't like cats. I woke up with one on my pillow! Staff excellent.

Thank you Anna! Good trip!

Angel Hostal

Valparaiso, Chile

Beds were nice. Lockers in all dorm rooms. Kitchen appliances seemed quite modern. Only one shower so sometimes had to wait a while. The guy who checked us in was so friendly showed us all nice places to go. Some of the other hostel staff were quite pushy and could be rudely abrupt at times.

Hostel de la Barra

Santiago, Chile

Beds were really nice and comfy. Location was amazing right next to metro and parks. There was no kitchen only a shelf with a toaster and a kettle so you can't cook your own food.

Hostel Empedrado

Mendoza, Argentina

Pancakes and omelettes at breakfast were amazing! So worth getting up for. Staff were helpful enough. Rooms were a little old but clean.

Caballo Loco Hostel

Montevideo, Uruguay

The nicest we've stayed in by far! Took a risk as the hostel had no reviews because it was new. So glad we did it puts all the other old and shabby hostels to shame. Amazing nights sleep, amazing facilities. They cooked dinner for us one night where we got to meet the other guests. Great atmosphere. The owner is so enthusiastic and goes out of his way to make your stay as great as it possibly can be. Like the previous review said we meant to stay for one night and ended up staying for five!

Milhouse Hipo

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mattresses are old and uncomfortable, the type you wouldn't want to touch without a sheet! Blankets smelt. Location was good and there was a good atmosphere although the parties felt more like a school disco. As we were leaving we asked to print our bus tickets off and were told no even though we offered to pay! Every other hostel has been friendly enough to let us print important documents like this. Don't get a taxi from them as the fixed price is up to 3x more than one on the street.

Timbo Posada

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!! Location was great as it was a few minute walk away from the bus station so easy to get to the falls. Lots of mozzies around but I imagine it's the same at any hostel near the falls.

Pousada Sonho Meu

Foz do Iguacu, Brazil

Nice hotel. Only stayed for one night and just used it as a base. Obviously it doesn't have the same atmosphere as a hostel as there are no common areas. Hotel was clean, shower was good, beds were nice. Wifi was broken when we were there which was a bit of a pain.

Barra Beach Club Oceanfront Hostel

Florianopolis, Brazil

Free use of the surfboards and wetsuits!! Great staff and the dinners are excellent (but a little pricey if on a budget). Bar had a great atmosphere! Wifi not in all rooms.

Bee.W Hostel Bar

Sao Paulo, Brazil

One of the nicest we stayed at in terms of the dorm. Really comfy modern room. Best nights sleep we've had. The kitchen was the nicest and most modern we've used. Location amazing. It was really quiet in October and therefore there wasn't any atmosphere. One flaw, the staff were nice enough but not particularly friendly or helpful with activities in São Paulo or guiding us around the hostel. Seemed to just do bare minimum at check in but did offer some advice when asked directly.

The view from our room was incredible, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was great! They have paddle-boards for hire and offer free goggles (and a small number of snorkels). Probably the best location of any hostel we've stayed in, in Brazil so far (literally on the beach!). The Wi-Fi is adequate, we didn't have coverage in our room and the speed wasn't great but who needs Facebook when the view is this good!? We ended up extending our stay an extra night!

Walk On The Beach Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This hostel is AWESOME, we ended up extending our stay. The staff are the best we've come across; genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and make a super caipirinha! The atmosphere is easy going, and friends are easily made. The location is perfect; a stones throw from Copacabana Beach and has everything you need in the immediate area. The Wi-Fi is excellent in all dorms and social areas. Mattresses are on the thin side but we didn't lose sleep over it. Missing the WOTB Family already!

PLUS Florence

Florence, Italy

We stayed in many hostels on our month long trip in Italy and this was our favourite. Staff were amazing, friendly & helpful. Rooms were really nice and ensuite bathrooms were always spotless. Beds were super comfy. The hostel bar and food place was a great place to hang out. We had two really good nights out there during our stay. Both times we thought we'd just go to the hostel bar for a couple of drinks before going out properly and we ended up staying the whole night!

Ostello della Gioventu Benacus

Lake Garda, Italy

Basic hostel was in a great location. Very quiet without much atmosphere but satisfied our basic needs for the two days we stayed there. Nice bathrooms with hot showers.

PLUS Camping Jolly

Venice, Italy

The campsite is not particularly close to Venice but it doesn't pretend to be. They provided a minibus into Venice regularly which more than made up for the distance especially considering the cost of the accommodation per night. Plus the minibus driver was pure lols! Swimming pool was great, staff were really helpful, wifi was fine, the bar was lively. Only downside was the cabin we were staying in was freezing at night (we nicknamed it the freezer) although I am quite wimpish about the cold.
