A lovely hostel in every respect - beautiful building & decor, well situated, comfortable, well-appointed, friendly, reasonably priced. Our only quibbles were the lack of an electric kettle and the lack of a bike shed. (I think the latter was in process of being replaced). Also, we weren't sure how to contact the owners if we needed to ask anything, though when they were in the building they were most helpful. We'd definitely recommend Downhill Hostel.

Paddy's Palace Hostel Derry

Town House room- 3 bunks, 2 had no ladder. Climbing onto top one impossible without putting foot on person beneath, as the only chair in room tipped when I tried to stand on it, & anyway was piled up with people's belongings (nowhere else to put stuff). Room grubby, doubt if bed linen had been washed, no hooks, flimsy piece of wood nailed across the window (for security??). Yard messy, grubby. Kitchen ill-equipped. Breakfast paltry. Very disappointing as had the potential to be v nice.
