A good choice in San Francisco as the hostel is quite close to Union Square/Market Street where you find easy public transport to all sightseeing/party locations (most places can anyway easily be reached on foot). Cool activities offered daily by the hostel. Like in many USA hostels, space for luggage in the rooms is unfortunately rather limited.
The hostel looks really good from the inside. Spacious rooms, a nice lounge and a movie area as well as a modern reception are inviting. For the first time have I seen professional luggage storage (with tags, tickets, and checks) in a hostel! WiFi signal could be better and more powerplugs would be appreciated.
While I liked the hostel overall, the night staff was unfortunately not able to give me my key deposit back... Very annyoing as I asked in the afternoon if it is a problem to check out during the night.
The hostel has without a doubt a really good location, the hostel services itself are rather poor. The reception staff barely speaks English (I like that travellers can work in such hostels, but then an experienced employee has to be around as well). I got the impression that the front desk staff has little knowledge about Oahu and little experience in hospitality. The bathroom was not only really old and used, it also made an unclean impression. The luggage storage room was a complete mess.
A hostel with a very nice atmosphere and a courtyard that invites to socialize. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. I stayed in three hostels in Honolulu (due to peak season) and this was the best one.
Really friendly staff. However, the YHA Brisbane has quite a faceless/professional touch, not really a backpacker atmosphere compared to smaller YHA's around Brisbane.
Very nice, friendly, helpful and cool staff! Good free activities organized like the city tour or a visit to the Sydney Aquarium.
