Mexico City Hostel

Mexico City, Mexico

Huge hostel and clean and modern. I had one big problem though. This hostel has ZERO atmosphere. There is no bar (they have ample space on the roof for one), and its so big it does not promote meeting other travellers. Every night the TV room is the only place to meet other people, but everyone is generally bored out of their minds and on their cellphones and not talking. No music, no bar, nothing. I had to go around the corner to another hostel to meet other people.

Tower Bridge Backpackers

Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Great vibe and excellent staff. I think they were in the process of cleaning the place up. However i could not give a better review as the bathrooms were terrible and often dirty. Also the hostel is like 15minutes walk from the beaches. Definitely fun and friendly though!

Rossco Backpackers Hostel

San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico

Nice hostel, Great breakfast. Fun bonfire. Downside was no power sockets in my dorm.

Hostel Fe

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Great location. Only downside was the breakfast was bad

Jungle Party Hostal

Antigua, Guatemala

Very bad internet, was not working for most of my stay, and they turn it off between 6-10pm every day with the excuse 'buy a drink at the bar'. My bed was a mattress on the floor in the 20 person dorm. It's hot and noisy and everyone is sleeping on mattresses on the floor. Seems to be 1 locker between 2 which is not ideal for solo travelers. 3 tiny toilets and 3 showers with no shelves for soap for the whole hostel. As a long term traveler, I have to say that this was a bad hostel. Staff good

El Hostal

Antigua, Guatemala

Very impressed with this hostel. Nice dorm beds which are made for you every day. Fast internet. Like 10 options on the free breakfast plus a drink. Staff are very friendly and professional. One of the best hostels I've stayed at in a very long time!

Hostel Internacional Mendoza

Mendoza, Argentina

Great hostel with very helpful and friendly staff - especially Paula. Activities and trips organised every day, and not far from the central district.

Beautiful hostel. Probably the biggest i saw in Montevideo with a good pool, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Would go here again.

Backpackers Share House Floripa

Florianopolis, Brazil

Great hostel in an amazing location. Loved all the free things included such as surf boards. The staff were very friendly and helpful here, especially Barbara (aka babs) - probably one of the most helpful staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! Would def stay again.

Walk On The Beach Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The staff were very friendly here. We went out almost every night with some of them. The hostel is in a great location very near Copacabana beach. Had a few midnight swims. Would definitely recommend staying near the beach rather than in Lapa area.

Pura Vida Hostel

Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Good hostel. Has a nice central area with lots of tables, hammocks and chairs to socialize. Has two kitchens, a ping pong table that doubles for flipcup and beerpong and friendly, helpful staff. Only thing lacking was toilets out of the dorm rooms (each dorm has a private toilet), and each night we had to turn out the lights in the common area by 11pm. Overall a great hostel and i made many friends here. If i was heading back to tamarindo, pura vida would def be my #1 choice.

Castle Tam Hostel

San Jose, Costa Rica

Very pleased with our stay at castle tam. All staff except the owner were friendly, although he was very helpful if not so friendly. Good beds, good bathrooms, good wifi, free breakfast, walking distance to clubs, safer area, what more could you ask for?
