This hostel is the perfect place to visit. If you're travelling alone you will have no problem meeting people. It's got a fabulous traveller vibe, happy hours, helpful staff and a gorgeous roof top bar overlooking Acropolis. The beds are cleaned daily too. Yes the shower was a little temperamental but no where is perfect. The staff helped me out with an adapter socket and towel. It's not expensive and from the location, you are in walking distance of many of the main tourist sites.

This hostel is cheap but not really what was expected. The bunk beds are practically on the floor as they've tried to cram so many in a room. It's very hot, the cleaners come in and move all your stuff. One lift is available which is quite slow. They charge to keep your bags after you stay which is quite unusual for a hostel. There is a charge for breakfast, dried up slices of bread, so you're better off going to maccies. I cut my stay short. Bar and smoking area OK. Frankly don't bother.

I only stayed at Wombats for one night. The tour I went on to Dachau was fantastic and gave me the chance to meet people. Kitchen facilities are good too and there's a bar, pool table and winter garden- no space for smokers outdoors though. I've marked them down solely because I requested a mixed room & ended up sharing with 5 men. Most women will understand why that is an uncomfortable & possibly dangerous situation. It ruined an otherwise good stay and I didn't feel happy in my room at all.

This hostel is really more of a hotel with dorm rooms, it doesn't have that chilled out hostel vibe I've become more accustomed to but it is clean. You are charged for towels and storing your bag at an expensive rate (find one in town!). Some of the showers are communal but they have private options. Huge thanks to Sandra who dealt with a difficult issue with someone in my dorm in the middle of the night professionally and sensitively, I really appreciated it. This woman needs a promotion!

This hostel is fantastic. It's huge, has great facilities and helpful staff (with a good sense of humour). I loved just sitting out in the garden drinking beers with people from my hostel room. It's also got a bar & restaurant if you're feeling flush. The location is right next to the East Side Gallery, a gay and mainstream night club and a few minutes away from a station. Ensuite bathrooms are nice and there's also a common room. I'm not going back to Berlin unless I can stay at this hostel!

The staff here are generally lovely and super helpful. They have some lovely social spaces but the bathrooms need to be cleaned more frequently (they weren't terrible but are not single sex so need a scrub more often). I fell through a bunk bed ladder because a rung broke whilst I was on it. I did get moved to a smaller room but hurt myself which does suggest that things aren't safety checked. That said, met some lovely people, it's cheap and right near the train station and Flix Bus stop.

Not the best place I've stayed at. Great location if you can survive the numerous staircases on the way! We were greeted by a pretty miserable member of staff who was extremely abrupt. The toilet and shower facilities could be improved. Common room has a kitsch vibe and I think it was a little expensive for what it was. Some hostels do a lot to encourage people to interact but this isn't that kind of place. If you don't mind the stairs and arw looking for a spot near the station it's fine.

Atlantic Point is a home away from home. The staff are amazing, informative and helpful, the hostel is welcoming, vibrant and sociable and it's situated in a convenient location in Cape Town. This hostel has a young, international vibe but being there gives you the opportunity to meet fantastic people from all the round the world. Take advantage of the happy hour and local knowledge. Definitely going back there.

I really liked staying here and the only regret is that I could not stay for longer. This hostel is extremely relaxed, you won't find huge parties but if you're looking for intellectual conversation and a friendly atmosphere right on the beach, then look no further. I do think the hostel could organise a few events or formal tours to give guests something to do but other than that brilliant. The young gentleman working on reception is extremely helpful and professional.

Ghandi's generally has a slightly older crowd. They have a good knowledge of local tours and activities and will shuttle you around Joburg for a very cheap price. The bar's decent and the most relaxed dog lives there in history (even I was fine with her and I don't like dogs). The hostel doesn't really organise group events for guests but will signpost you to whatever you need in town.

The Philadelphia House is incredible, there's no point staying anywhere else in the city. I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived and the staff do a fantastic job of bringing everyone together and making you feel at ease. We had local tours, game nights and socials everyday. I highly recommend a visit.
