Passenger Ship Avanti

Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Avanti is one of two boats which are next to each other and operate the same booking system. We stayed in the one right at the end of the pier, and it was very pleasant. Though we only spent one night in there - arriving around 9pm and having to leave the next day at 7am - we were made to feel at home by the guy who runs the boats - forgot his name (sorry mate) but he's the tall lad from Blackpool - was very chatty and welcoming. Definitely recommend it and wish we could have stayed longer!

Only stayed one night here, but what a great place! The pub downstairs has character and beer is very nice and very cheap, the clientele is good, the room we stayed in was one of the nicest we'd been to in a hostel - felt more like a hotel - and the location, about 10 mins walk from the centre, was great if you're there for the nightlife - cheap bars, convenience stores and takeaways aplenty! Wish we'd stayed longer! Definitely recommend it if you're staying in Bruges.

Hostelboat Anna Maria II

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Spent a couple of days in this hostel boat. Decent enough stay, the staff were nice, only qualms were, in my opinion, the size of the rooms - quite small, especially if you have sizeable luggage - and the lack of plug sockets in the rooms (the boat has a couple dotted around though). But the good location, about 10 minutes walk from the city's bright lights while still being in a very pretty, quiet area, and the good breakfast made up for it. Definitely would recommend it.
