The pick up scheme is kind of strange, but it works. There are signs posted to please not socialize inthe kitchen, but that is the only place with wifi and so the sign was ignored. Fellow guest were responsive when asked to quiet down and it was certainly not a party hostel. The washing machine was notoriously unreliable. The breakfast supplies were a nice bonus. Overall a good hostel experience for the money.
It is a long hike from the train station and the busses in Inverness are not very user friendly to visitors, but there is a stop just across the street. The room was clean and comfortable. Shared bathroom was clean and roomy. No check in, but they were expecting us. Essential to have a phone to call.
We were away from the main building in a basement hallway which was very noisy, had no tv or wifi, but did have comfortable beds and our own bathroom. Adequate for a place to sleep while sight seeing.
