The receptionist working when we arrived was fantastic, and helped us with all the points of interest. Our room was big, with lockers to store valuables. Our air-conditioning was broken and despite our complaints, and their assurance it was fixed, it wasn't and continued to keep us awake at night. Don't bother with the breakfast and pizza and pasta nights as they were highly disappointing. Santi's, near the station is a far better option for dinner for the same price.
We were lucky enough to be in a room located at the bottom of the hill. However, one half of the bed had missing slats so we had to sleep in a broken, collapsed bed for the first night which was I was definitely not pleased about. They did change the bed the next day after telling them however. Don't expect air-conditioning. Would consider staying here next time we're in Riomaggiore.
Our double room was huge, and complete with a TV. The guy at reception was very helpful when we arrived, showing us the main sights on a map. Only downfall was the location, which was about a 20minute walk from the main station.
Close to the train station and a short walk to the beach. Kind enough to upgrade us, the rooms (complete with tv's) were more like hotels than hostel dorms.
U hostel is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The staff are friendly and helpful, the shared bathrooms were always clean and the nightly activities organised were fantastic, especially our leader, Pablo. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Madrid.
