What a lovely place! Too bad I was only here for one night. The staff is really nice and all your needs are met. The place is very clean. The best part about this hostel is its location: from here, I walked to the train station, the airport, and to the Tower of Pisa.
Good value for money. Free wifi, nice big rooms. Only one washroom although the place is small so it didn't turn out to be a problem. The staff are pretty much never there and there's no front desk, so you need to take the initiative to meet people (altho the trusted independence by the staff is kind of refreshing). Excellent location, a stone's throw away from the duomo and right by the train station. No lockers so keep your valuables on you. Overall, a pretty good basic hostel.
This isn't a hostel, but a hotel/inn. Wifi only available in lobby, which is ok except the sleeping desk clerk turned it off at night because "This is a 2-star not a 5-star". Found a bug in my luggage. Also, rather awful, unpleasant and lazy staff. On the main island and really nice hot showers, though. It's a below-average hostel experience, although it seems that most places in Venice are. So, relative to other places this might be as good as you'll get.
On the pricier side, this was a nice hostel. Big common room with pretty good wifi (altho no wifi in bedrooms). Safe luggage storage available and lockers for valuables. Decent breakfast included, right by some grocery stores to buy stuff. Montmatre isn't the best place to be, especially at night so location was not that great, although it was by the metro and within the city. Staff was friendly, though overall there wasn't anything exceptional about this place, and not for the money spent.
