Loved this hostel, it was my favourite of the trip. Shout out to the receptionist who woke up at 3am to take us to the airport so we didn't have to get a cab - was much appreciated! Really homely, albeit the room we stayed in was quite small - got cabin fever after a while!

Staff were absolutely lovely. Ryan chatted to us and gave us information on where to go for cliff diving etc. The stairs up to the hostel can be a little dark at night, as the lights were not switched on when we were there so watch your step! Felt very at home and welcomed. Thanks for having us!

Free bar crawl and shots were wholly welcomed! A lovely place to stay - liked the little japanese chairs in the garden. Rooms were kept lovely and cool by the aircon and the terrace is a great place to socialise. My only concern was the lack of security - the hostel is accessible from both the front and rear with no swipe cards or anything. The nightguard is on duty but always lock your room once you leave it or it really is vulnerable to theft!

Hi Lucy, we are sorry to hear that you didn't feel safe in our hostel. But I cannot agree with you on that. Reception that is on the entrance is open 24/7 and no one without a green wristband can enter the hostel during the day and during the night we have a night guard who is on the watch all the time. We don't let anyone without the wristband inside the hostel. Every dorm has lockers for valuable things.

Was not that impressed with this hostel. In actual fact it's more like a collection of rooms that have been let out. We only stayed the one night as a stopover but it was further than the centre than we would have liked. We found Peter helpful and recommended us places to eat etc. The kitchen was very basic. We asked for a twin room and were give a double - we managed to get another single bed but Peter did deny that this is what we'd originally asked for despite having an email confirmation.

Staff were absolutely wonderful. Just off the main road but quite a long walk from Keleti and Deli train stations. Not many people stay here so its more of a quiet hostel - just what we needed for a brief stopover. Kitchen is very small and basic.

Really loved this hostel - more of a quiet get away from the centre type hostel. Really well decorated and Adam and Eva are both helpful. Facilities are good and the kitchen was very clean and a pleasure to cook in. Thank you for having us!

Party hostel right in town! Location is good and its relatively clean. Can be a bit chaotic but we were there for a good time so didn't bother us. And you get a discount on the bar food if you're staying in the hostel! A good choice.

This hostel was genuinely very lovely. Homely and friendly, the staff were very welcoming. The free breakfast was an absolute treat. During the world cup they brought out a projector so we could watch it on the wall. Liked the layout of the rooms too, there was enough space and the plugs inside the lockers was really helpful. Would stay here again.

Beds were unmade upon my arrival and reception was unaware of the fact. However, cleaners came as very quickly and made beds efficiently. Was told that reception was 24hr, as I needed to check out at 5am. Not entirely convinced this is the case. They put the grill down on reception and no-one mans the front desk, so had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to come down and check me out.

Nice, clean hostel. Interesting set up as all doors lead to the outside but it all adds to the character of it. Very close to woolworths and bars etc. Will be staying here again on my route down to Sydney.

I stayed in sanctuary which was quite good as we got free champagne in the evenings and the rooms were very clean. I checked out early and the staff were kind enough to give me a credit note for any other Base Hostel which I appreciated. St Kilda isn't a very nice area and is quite far from the city, so it can be difficult on nights out etc. The staff booked a couple of girls on my floor into separate rooms on their own for a couple of days - would have been nice if they'd roomed us together.

The hostel itself is generally speaking, fairly clean, secure and definitely in a good location. The staff do not really seem that interested in helping you, and are possibly more interested in socialising. We met some alright people in our room, but we felt the social scene was better in the 24 hour Mcdonald's down the road!

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to comment. Its a shame to hear you didn't enjoy the social scene here at Wake Up! We have a lively atmosphere here and our staff are encouraged to take the time for guest interaction. Next time you stay with us be sure to keep in the loop as to what is going on for the nights you are staying with us. Friday Ping Pong, free wine & cheese nights, cocktail parties and trivia nights have a far better atmosphere than McDonald's i can assure you. Wake Up!
