Everything about this hostel is great, except for the dorms are just too outdated. Mine smelled musty and needed a good refurb. Apart from that the location is spot on, between Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. Almost all the good attractions are in walkable distance. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great wi-fi and the breakfast was decent. Great spot if you're not expecting any award winning bedrooms!

USA Hostels Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA

Though I wouldn't necessarily recommend staying in Hollywood, if you are then this is a good base. Right off Hollywood and Sunset blvds. Hostel runs activities every day though they may be considered a little overpriced, the guides are friendly and well informed however. Staff seem to constantly be in and out of rooms which can be a tad frustrating but all are friendly and extremely happy to help. I recommend getting to breakfast early as supplies deplete quickly.

Thanks for the stay and taking the time to leave us a review! Our free breakfast of all you can eat pancakes, assorted breads, oatmeal, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice should be full the whole time from 7am-10am. We will be sure to share your feedback about breakfast with the staff. Glad you found everyone friendly and hope to see you the next time you find yourself in Hollywood! Safe travels!

Only spent one night here but the beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious and all facilities were extremely clean. The pool was a surprise bonus and definitely a luxury. There were a lot of older guests and not much of an atmosphere, but again I was here for a one night stay. The location isn't ideal but there is not much choice regarding hostels in the area so it's a good compromise. Would definitely recommend, though not for travellers looking to make friends to party with.

Great location, just off Congress for seeing some of the sights. There's a real social atmosphere with groups meeting and heading out on sixth st most nights. The bar downstairs is great, however if you're staying on the 2nd floor the music can run late and loud! I heard the dorms could get a little warm, however I didn't have this problem personally. Space in the dorms is lacking though, as a girl with a suitcase it made things mildly problematic. Overall though I had a fantastic time!

Auberge NOLA Hostel, New Orleans, USA

29th Jul 2016

Auberge is the best hostel of my USA stay so far for sure. Clean, modern, sociable... it ticked all the boxes. The staff were lovely, there was a slight problem as they had accidentally cancelled my booking but when I arrived they were really accommodating and went above and beyond to apologise. A great party hostel for those wanting to do NOLA right. 6 bed dorm was extremely spacious, air conditioned and the beds were huge and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone travelling to NOLA.

The best thing about the hostel is the location, as the White House and National Mall are a 15-30 minute walk away. There wasn't really a social atmosphere here, but HI target a different audience to independent hostels. Breakfast offered was the best I've encountered and the wifi worked very well.

I was really pleased with this hostel! Though a bit pricey, the facilities provided are top notch. Super clean bathrooms & the cafe has such a great (& tasty) selection. Wi-fi is excellent, first time I can say that of a hostel! Although this is Manhattan this isn't particularly central, however the subway stop on 103rd st is a 3 min walk away & central park is only 10 mins on foot. Only criticism would be the insanely loud AC in the dorms, but this was a small price to pay in humid July!

The Backpack Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa

21st Aug 2014

I treated myself to the most expensive hostel in Cape Town, but I was not disappointed. The beds in the 8 bed dorm were gloriously soft and the atmosphere of the whole hostel is great, with everybody talking to everyone else. With many social areas and a bar there is always somewhere to chill out. Just a street away from Kloof and Long Street where all the action is as well. I've already booked my next weekend's stay here.

Travellers Oasis, Cairns, Australia

28th Jun 2014

We had constantly heard Travellers Oasis was the best place to stay in Cairns, albeit a little more pricey. But you get what you pay for. It's so relaxed and friendly, with awesome staff and great facilities. While located off the centre it is a maximum 10 minute easy walk to it. A big plus is the fact that they let you bring alcohol in and drink there, which a lot of the other hostels don't allow as they want you to purchase from their bars. A brilliant all round hostel.

If you're on Kangaroo Island then you probably know there are slim pickings for backpackers. But, this cosy little bungalow provided a nice, clean environment with comfortable beds and good facilities. A bit out of the way as most of the activities we wanted to do were at the opposite end of the island, but if you rent a car (you have to if you want to get anywhere) then you are fine. The owner was lovely and it was located close to the supermarket... though beware it shuts very early.

Decent rooms. Decent location. But the term youth hostel should not be applied to somewhere that accepts all ages, both old and very young. Nice social areas, but these are impinged upon by the fact that there could be 10 rowdy 15 year olds swearing, shouting, and being a nuisance. Other hostels in the area looked pretty dingy though, so best to invest in this hostel as it is very nice and clean.

A lovely hostel, very modern and pretty. Great facilities in the form of kitchen and chill out rooms. Bathrooms were very clean. Close to the beach and a few shops and restaurants. If you're on the Great Ocean Road you won't find many places nicer to bed down.

This was a nice hostel, conveniently located opposite Flinders Street station, close to the shops and by the MCG. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was very clean and tidy, almost too clean and tidy. The staff could probably relax a bit about the state of the hostel as you cannot leave anything lying about/leave washing up to dry before you are told to clear it up. But the staff will go out of their way to help you should you need to make any bookings.

This was one of the nicer looking hostels in Hobart. Free wifi was wonderful. If you come in winter it can get very chilly, luckily we were the only hostel room with a heater so you might want to request the 6 bed room. Overall a nice hostel with easy walking distance to the local shops. The free shuttle buses are wonderful too.

I stayed in a lovely 3 bed dorm. Didn't spend much time in the hostel as I was there for a convention, but even in my short time there the atmosphere was social and I met people to go out for dinner with. The bathrooms are very small and only located on every other floor. The staff were very friendly and the free breakfast was lovely.

I spent an entire week at Isaacs and I am so glad I chose this hostel! the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and were super friendly and funny. The rooms were standard hostel rooms, maybe a bit noisy depending on location, but that's what you sacrifice for staying in such a social hostel! the hostel walking tour was great to meet people to go out on the bar crawl with... all in all a lovely time and if I'm ever back in Dublin this is where I'll be staying for sure!

A lovely 3 day stay at Rethymno including a hostel group day trip to Preveli beach (highly recommended). Lovely place within easy reach of Fira (main town) and all the beaches.
