El Misti Hostel Rio

Had a fantastic time at this hostel! The lounge area was comfortable and I felt that I could relax there. The dinner's were also very tasty and a great way to meet people for those travelling alone. Most smiley bar man in the world! Only downside is that the rooms are very, very small and the beds are seriously compacted in the rooms, so there's not a whole lot of personal space

Found this hostel to be quite unique from the others at it is more 'in the jungle' rather than on the main street. don't be put off that it's a little further to walk to as it's worth it. Really nice, quiet location but even if you want to party that's fine as the other hostels tended to let you in to drink anyway. Really friendly staff! Nice and clean. Only bad point is that the communal kitchen was very small.

Backpackers House Paraty

THE BREAKFAST IS AMAZING! best breakfast i've ever had, ever. Really friendly staff. Great location next to the bus station which means it's a bit of a walk to Paraty beach buttt there's nicer beaches just outside of Paraty which involve a short bus trip anyway. Communal dinners were fun. Slight bad point is that the rooms are a bit cramped with having triple bunk beds and there were minimal toilets and showers
