Chelsea is an great neighbourhood to stay in because it is a wealthier area and safe at night, however... there isn't much to do in terms of night life close by to the hostel. It is right outside a great bus route but you definitely can't walk to any good pubs or to pub crawls. On a positive note, the staff are friendly and helpful - they put us in a private room for our entire stay when they noticed we had one night booked in a 6 person room and 2 nights in a private room for no extra charge.
Half hotel half hostel - lots of families, lots of young backpackers. Good breakfast although a bit expensive for what it is. Only one washer/dryer in a HUGE building so it was always in use. Super clean rooms. Location isn't the greatest - about a 20 minute walk to the heart of the city, and the area surrounding this hostel is a bit sketchy but we never had any real problems when walking around.
The bar downstairs is great and so is the free breakfast.. however the staff aren't too engaging. The area is central but perhaps a bit dodgy at night. Stayed in a 5 person room (really expensive!!!!!!!) that had graffiti dicks all over the walls (welcome to Amsterdam right?!) which wasn't very clean. Seems that men seem to enjoy this hotel much more than women from what I gathered from everyone we met there.

Awesome location, awesome hostel. Stayed in a 10 person room and had no problems whatsoever. Always felt safe. Saw staff regularly cleaning bathrooms, showers and dorm rooms. Also great pub crawls and walking tours leave from this location.
