Took a break from the hostel scene to enjoy a legitimate hotel. The staff was incredibly helpful, the rooms were lovely with good showers, and the courtyard was a great place to hang out. Breakfast is also more than bread and jam (it includes cheese, olives, and juice), and for 5 soles extra you can get the best pancakes! Also, even though the site says they don't hold luggage, we left our luggage while we did a 2-day Colca trek with no problem (although we did stay there again on our return)

Katy (the owner) is absolutely amazing - fun to talk to and very helpful. She also has several friendly cats, which I really enjoyed, but some guests were less pleased. The room was very basic but clean; my only real complaints was the very dim (purple) light in the room and the total lack of mirrors and outlets. We were only there one night so we didn't shower, so I can't comment on the water temps.

We stayed here in May/June and definitely enjoyed it. The rooftop terrace is one of the best, the staff was very helpful (and it was especially nice and easy to have in-house travel agency help) and the price is right. The only drawbacks were a low shower:bed ratio and hard mattresses. The front rooms (the 8-bed dorms) on the first floor are also INCREDIBLY noisy from the bar below, but the staff let us switch rooms after we asked the next morning. Avoid these rooms unless you'll be out late.

Rock Valley had good common facilities - nice dining/bar room, pool, breakfast. We had a couple problems with our roommates taking the communal room key, but that's certainly not the pension's fault. There are, however, NO lockers, so if you need to leave your stuff for whatever reason they have you stash it in the lobby - not the most secure, but nothing was stolen. Still a nice stay and definitely good value!

This is a really fantastic hotel, especially for the price. The room was clean and cozy (unfortunately we didn't get a cave room, but the stone room was lovely) and Mustafa, the owner, was incredibly kind and accomodating. Breakfast was great too. Definitely one to recommend.
