A wonderful respite from our hectic trip: comfortable beds in a beautiful, countryside location - easily accessible by taxi from Stansted Airport. If you're arriving after midnight, as we did, be sure to contact the Inn directly and confirm your arrival time and date; due to Hostelworld's interface, we were put down as arriving the next day, and arrived to a dark and empty reception desk. However, I was able to call the owner who was very helpful (at 1am!!) in finding us a room regardless.
Fantastic location near loads of great bars and clubs (and public transit), fantastic vibes, really cool people. All around great place. Our only complaint - if the staff is reading this review - is that the toilet in room P was leaking under the floor tiles, which was incredibly unfortunate; however, knowing the very helpful staff, I'm sure they'll have this fixed in no time. I'll definitely come back here.
Everything about Plus Camping Jolly was great except for the other guests: If you're an obnoxious seventeen-year-old, you'll love this place. However, since we were slightly more-dignified (if still fun-loving) nineteen-year-olds, we and the overworked security staff soon grew tired of the loud noise of and painful interactions with intoxicated minors. That said, the tents and beds were comfortable, the pool lovely, the bathrooms clean, and the free hourly shuttle to Venice was perfect.
I'm reluctant to give bad reviews, but the only two things going for this B&B were the un-touristy-but-really-hip location and the air-con unit. The sheets smelled, there was no shower curtain or toilet paper, and our doorknob was falling off. Above all else, the owner—Laura—didn't seem to care much about helping guests. Upon arriving, we had to call a number on a handwritten note (lucky my phone worked) and wait 45 minutes after her curt response for her to show up and let us in. Not so great.
Our three-bed ensuite was perfect: spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and a reasonably priced minibar/fridge. The one-Euro croissant/cappuccino/juice breakfast was small but tasty - and for a backpacker in need of a break, few things beat breakfast hand-delivered to your bed. Hope (the owner) is very kind and hospitable. Good location in a quiet neighborhood (save for garbage trucks) just off the main road, a short walk from downtown.
Booked this hostel three hours before with no other options for the night, and we (three young Americans) were pleasantly surprised. Balcony overlooking a beautiful plaza just inside the Medina with easy access to taxis on the main road. Wonderful English-speaking receptionist pointed us toward food/attractions and helped with airport directions. Room was everything we needed and nothing more; WiFi slow but functional; free breakfast simple but delicious. Will definitely return.
Odd vibe, and not the warmest welcome after difficulty finding the hostel, but nonetheless a cool place that attracted a fun crowd of young travelers. Top floor bar, kitchen and adjoining rooftop patio were beautiful, though we didn't have much time to spend there. Manager was drinking w/ guests all night (security...?) Due to the number of people attempting to rip us off or take our money, none of us are likely to return to Tangier, but if I ever do return, I'd go back to this hostel.
Beautiful hostel and location, though we only spent one short night there. Food, drink, shopping, and views of the Alhambra all very close by. Slow but functional WiFi, one clean bathroom/shower in 10-person dorm, good sheets/blankets. Reception staff and check-in process were oddly slow. Will return.
