We had emailed and had booking information on when to check in but the owner was not there. After an hour and a half we found a place to call and he was there within 10 minutes. I would recommend calling once you arrived to meet up with the owner. He was very pleasant once there. The bathroom was not the nicest (drain would clog & couldn't use the shower at full pressure). The location couldn't have been better and the room was very spacious plus mini fridge/kitchen is so nice for long trips!
We had a quick one night stay here. The lobby seems much nicer than the room but the room & bathroom were clean. The location is not the greatest though close to the Gare Lyon Perrache. Walking from the main shopping area in the peninsula area to the hotel at night also felt a bit unsafe. The staff were friendly and provided us with some good tips.
This is definitely a youth hostel. We are in our mid-20s and felt old here. It was fairly clean. The location was quite far away from the downtown area - taking about 40 minutes by tram + shuttle. The free shuttle does not run all day and often times you had to wait multiple trips to finally have space to get on. We did very much enjoy the free walking tour and our guide was hilarious. Next time might try to stay at the beach hostel which seemed nicer, had an older crowd and much better location
Casa Ortega (and Nadia) was incredible! We had a great experience staying here. It's located right next to the train station making it very convenient to get around. The part of the city it's located in was not necessarily the nicest but I would still recommend staying here. It was a little hard to find at first (hint the street numbers are not in order). Nadia provided us with excellent suggestions of good places to visit, eat and how to get around. We wish Casa Ortega was in every city!
