Heart of Gold Hostel

Berlin, Germany

Good hostel. Nice lively bar downstairs. Decently friendly staff. Very hotel-esque feel. Easy to find and close to metros.

Hans Brinker Budget Hotel

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Very very strange vibe at the hostel. To enter, must hold up your set of keys to be buzzed in. Checkout was an absolute nightmare, would've missed our train had we entered the lobby at 10:59 instead of 10:57. Worker in lobby misinformed us of closing time of Heineken factory on our last day, causing us to miss it. Nice bar. Out of all hostels in Amsterdam, would give this a pass.

Hi Ian, Sorry to hear you've experienced some difficulties during your stay. The reason for showing your key before entering is a safety policy so no uninvited guest can enter the hotel. Checkout can be a crowded time at reception during high season. We recommend to checkout a bit earlier than 10 am if you need to catch a train or something. Greetings, Hans Brinker

Stayokay Amsterdam Vondelpark

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Staff spoke many different languages, impressive. Good security. Very dorm like. Had a younger (like 14-17 year old) feel. Decent location, 20 minute walk from Red Light. Laundry facilities good.

Cadiz Inn Backpackers

Cadiz, Spain

First time in a hostel, about what I expected. Extremely well located, close to the cathedral and more importantly the rail station. Had all you can drink sangria and a pub crawl stemming from the terrace, which was nice. Largest complaint would be the lake-like pool of water that would form in the bathroom floor after a shower, accompanied by a somewhat condescending sign to clean it up. Overall, pretty good, but not certain I'd return.
