Decent location, dirty dirty dirty, toilets always clogged. Door is open at all times so anyone could step in (and did), bring your own lock to at least have a semblance of security in the broken down lockers. Overall just felt gross, but at least it had AC I guess. Staff were nice enough. Located right next to a fruit stand and garbage bins, yay...

Good location, good rooms. Not nearly enough toilets/showers. Great cheap beer, but the music they played was horrible! Staff was friendly enough, facilities were kept pretty clean. Would stay again if in Ao Nang.

Great hostel! The three brothers running this place are amazing and friendly, the facilities are great, the garden terrace is a place you'll be relaxing in all day. The area is actually so much nicer than Khao San road, with lots to still do, but with a sense of some cleanliness. Its about an hour by river taxi from the middle, but that's an experience anyways. My only gripe is the cost of beer (can't bring your own) is way too high even with happy hour. Cheers guys, I'll be back!
Decent hostel, great location (right next to hbf). Staff are friendly and try to help but seem a little understaffed by how many people are staying. Free dinner and breakfast is great. Security is sketchy though, with such a huge hostel and easy accessibility into the building it seemed like many of the sketchy people from outside were hanging out inside. Overall a decent place if you need a quick stop in Frankfurt with access to/from hbf or airport
Excellent hostel in Mostar. Right next to the bus station and close to the old town. I was the only person in the hostel and Miran made sure I felt completely welcome. Any thing I needed, any questions, any concerns, he went out of his way to help solve. He even invited me to play football with him and his friends one evening. In busier months Miran runs what looks like an incredible tour, so I'll be back for sure in the spring/summer. Thanks for the excellent time, Miran!
Great little hostel in a good location. Friendly staff, good kitchen/commons area, comfy beds. Staff knows all the best food and transit schedules which is a huge help. Showers could use some water pressure/hot water increase. Was a bit cold even fully cranked. Make sure to fill a water bottle up before going out drinking as that area of Sarajevo loses water from 2400h-0500h
Great little place. Seems like an enlarged studio apartment. Easy to meet everyone (and go next door to the bar/lounge forndrinks!). Staff were friendly and welcoming, thanks again for the coffee from a tired traveler. Can't be located any closer to the buses and trains. I never seem to have the time to spend a while in Belgrade, but when I finally do, I'll be back here.
Lovely hostel. Utterly empty when I was there but that's this time of year. The staff are knowedgable, accommodating and friendly. The hostel has ample bathrooms and showers, the rooms are good (a little lacking on plugs by beds but whatever), lockers. A great looking commons area with speakers, games, etc (just needs people...). Outdoor area would be great in the summer to kick back with a beer. Note there is a dog sometimes (very friendly) if you have allergies. Definitely would stay again
Pretty decent hostel. Close to what you want to see, although a little bit far from buses. Staff are friendly if a bit impersonal, but were definitely down to answer any questions you had. There's a kitchen and commons room but both are awkwardly located so its less social than other hostels I've stayed in. Its possible to walk in and go to the rooms without being seen by reception so make sure you keep your stuff locked up (they seemed a little short on lockers).
The staff are intimidating; their glorious beards left me questioning my manliness every day. Jokes aside this hostel is amazing. Clean facilities, dope staff, and a GREAT bar next door (also a supermarket if you can fit in food around the beer). This is not a hostel where the staff organizes socializing Drinking games to meet people. This is a hostel where you drink some (or lots) of social lubricant and go party with traveller's and locals alike (and 0.5€ pool!). See you guys again!
Good location (a little sketchy at night but nothing unbearable). Always a staff member hanging out if you need anything. Hostel is fairly quiet so the atmosphere will depend on who's there. Good facilities, would definitely recommend staying here.
Walk through a tiny hobbit door and welcome to one of the best hostels you'll stay at in the world. The place is a house so you'll be cooking in the kitchen and meeting new friends lounging around the 'living room'. The staff are among the best in the world (or maybe it's just because they're very attractive?). But honestly they made the hostel incredibly fun with waffles, great event suggestions (go shooting!), and playing drinking games with guests. Merry Xmas, see you in Canada sometime!
This is an excellent hostel in Kiev. It's located at the bottom of a large hill so be prepared for a bit of a uphill hike every time you want to get info the city. Also near a supermarket! The staff are all awesome with a unique sense of humor but ultimately are very helpful and friendly. Staff will book a Chernobyl tour for you if you want. Cafe/bar next door has good food and drinks for a decent price, just don't expect attentive service... overall a great hostel experience.
Decent little hostel, good kitchen and right next to the main train station. Helpful staff. Rooms are located a bit always from the common area (only area internet worked too). No events or anything organized here, but they do have a board letting you know what's going on around the city.
Decent location (but seriously, fix the directions given in the email, they're useless), nice staff, good bar to meet people. They had a kitchen but I didn't use it. Close to the main attractions of brussels, but a bit far from the main bus depot (if you take the bus to nord, hop on a metro to central). There were big groups when I was there (its more like a hotel) and some of them were acting like idiots (breaking glass), but the staff seemed fairly ready to crack down. Overall worth the stay
Great location, really really cool bar staff (they're always busy working but dont let that put you off. Chat with them and you'll see), pool table (expensive though), decent drink specials, GREAT hangover breakfasts. Rooms are cleaned daily. I thought the towels, soap, and shampoo was a nice touch. Strict (In a good way) security; sort of the not really hard to sneak a friend in with my pass/booking slip, but keep all the crazies out. Can smoke inside and listen to kickass music.
Great value considering stockholm prices. Good location (next to central), chill staff, free skate rental...big kitchen (with free pasta) is perfect to socialize; great for solo travellers. Clean rooms, butbonky a few private showers. I didn't mind to shower in a locker room style, but if you do, maybe keep this in mind. Would definitely recommend. P.S. the liquor store closes early. Get there on time or you'll be drinking 2.5% carelsberg from 7/11.
Don't let the cheaper price fool you, this is a great Copenhagen hostel. Located in a very cool neighborhood (Nørrebro), you're surrounded by a ton of neat things to do, good food (Koeken!), and a great community. 25 min walk to the tourist things, a bit farther for Christiania, take the transit to Vesterbro. Clean facilities, cheap beer during happy hour, really friendly staff. The beds are probably the squeakist I've ever slept on though. Shift position and wake up the entire room.
This is a big hostel. 7 floors and countless rooms. Its next to the HBF, but make sure you look it up before arriving, the emailed directions dont actually tell you where it is. As a solo traveler I didn't like the hostel much because youre basically stuck to meeting your roommates and anyone who happens to be at the bar (which is set away). Staff were friendly but the bartender was more interested in talking to his girlfriend (?) then pouring drinks. About 15 minutes from the Reeperbahn.
I'd stay there again just for the shower and heated bathroom floors. Huge kitchen, and cool lounge. This hostel has a great potential for socializing, so get off your phone and say hi. Staff are nice but don't interact with guests, location is right next to 2 Ubahn lines. Berlin is huge so you'll be taking it a lot. 25 minute walk from the heart of Kreuzberg (cool, hip area) and the east wall gallery. Would recommend this hostel.
A big hotel hostel common in Germany. Friendly if a but too professional staff. Good bar with a pool table is your best bet to actually meet people. I highly recommend the walking tour, Ozzy does a great job, and its wombats only so its a good way to get to know some people. Also useful because a Bayern pass is cheapest with 5 people if you go see the Disney castle. Hostel facilities are clean, breakfast is good value.
Great hostel. Cheap beers and dinners. Beds were comfy, as was the chill out room. Staff was friendly and always down to have a good time. There's kickass Thai and burrito food nearby for drunchies. Would definitely come back.
Great hostel. Lots of clean bathrooms, great location, AMAZING free dinner every night (there's a full restaurant and they whip up a great meal for the backpackers). Pub crawls are fun, and the staff are very helpful. If theres s problem, just let them know and theyll do their best to fix it asap.
Great hostel. Good kitchen (and cooking class on Thursdays!), great staff, a really chill commons room. The hostel puts of daily notifications of things happening around Bratislava (bars, clubs, live music, sports, etc). Very clean and professional feeling, but no problem partying (they sell beer but have no problem with you bringing your own in). Highly recommended
Its exactly what you think it is. An excellent staff is willing to sacrifice their health to make sure you have an awesome time in Budapest (you'll need a few more days than you think if you actually want to sightsee - the daily hours for that are reduced by the hangover you'll have here). We can't in the off-season but the weekend was still cracking, the parties were still awesome, and things still got weird. Facilities are good enough, and actually clean. Do the caving for sure.
Superb hostel. I only stayed briefly but will be back in a month for sure. Friendly staff, cleanm free bikes to use, small kitchen. It has a very friendly, home like feel to it, where everyone is family.
Amazing hostel. Huge common room gets everyone really social. Pub crawls are fun, staff is awesome, breakfast is unlimited and delicious.
Lovely staff, great breakfast, great location. The pool looks like it'd be lovely in the summer. Make sure you ask the hostel to reserve a shuttle for you to/from the airport, and save you the expense of a pricey cab! A little short on washrooms (Which could use some better cleaning).
Best hostel in Istanbul. It's located next to all the historical sites, transit, etc. There's a great restaurant nearby (Defne) that gives 10% off to people who stay here. The staff were incredibly helpful during our stay. Tugi did everything he could to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. He even took an hour of his own time to help book a football match for the three of us. Wes runs a fun bar upstairs and creates a good atmosphere to meet all the other people in the hostel.
The whole experience was amazing. I arrived and Giovanni gave me risotto, and an entire rundown of Naploi's history, and things to see in the city, and outside. Rather than just circling features on a map he explained what everything was, making every trip better when I actually went. Giovanni is always around which has the effect of making the hostel seem like a large family. Big dinners, night time conversations over wine, etc. I can't recommend here enough. Cheers from two Canadian boys!
Overall rude staff, the place is breaking down (dirty facilities, leaking toilets, etc). However, the location is good, and the prices aren't bad. The hostel is on two levels and your key only works for one so there's not much mingling between groups (and the main common area sucks compared to the upstairs common area). No locks on cubbies in rooms. Overall average place. Good for a couple nights.
Great bar staff, good vibe, amazing location. The plugs people complain about is not a big deal, they have rows and rows behind the desk to charge and also keep your electronics safe. The free meals are kind but terrible (potatoes in "broth"?). We had a couple large...bugs...in our room but the place is really clean so I don't think its indicative of Kabul, more of the food heavy area of Barcelona. Overall a great place if you're looking to party.
Great front desk staff, really cool building, and happy hour rocks. Good value for your money, and you're sure to meet a ton of cool people. The club crawls are worth the money just to get cheaper cover, but mainly you're just killing time before getting into the main ones (kapital or bash). Rooms don't have plugs, but commons area and bar do. Not as big of a deal as people made it. Showers suck hard though...
Great view from the rooftop (and happy hour!), amazing home cooked dinners, and an incredibly friendly staff who know a surprisingly large amount about the city (being four English guys) makes La Bonda a very fun experience. The beds are a little gross but they mentioned that they only took ownership this year and are replacing them soon. They do a free walking tour with some other hostels - HIGHLY recommended. The guides are hilarious and very knowledgeable, its a tour you'll remember.
Great location, good price, decent facilities (the rooftop was excellent though). Skye was a riot and I had a lot of fun on the bar crawl. Only downside of the hostel is there was a lack of a true common area to meet people, only late at night would you met your fellow travelers on the rooftop. Free beach towels is a plus. They didn't have enough keys and I had to share a locker with my friend which was really annoying.
This hostel was the first on our trip and I can't think it'll get any better. The location is great (30s from metro, and in the heart of Baixa). The staff are all seasoned travelers, both local (try talking football with them, stir some emotions up!) and foreign (Norway for example) which gives a great insight into Lisbon. Great breakfast, clean facilities, fun activities (small charge) Also, TH has probably the best people watching balcony in the city (although everyone takes your photo).
