Supertramp Hostel

Machu Picchu, Peru

Ok so the hostel itself is nice. Pick it up and put it somewhere else, like in cusco and sure it be great. People go to Aguas Calientes for one reason and one reason only and that's to go to Machu Picchu. On that point most people want to get up early like 4/4:30am to make the first bus. It's slightly impossible to sleep with ridiculously loud( and i mean LOUD) music playing until 12-1! I had to makeshift earplugs with toilet roll..

I didn't think much of this hostel. Maybe it was because there was building work going on. I wouldn't say the security was very good and I wouldn't say the rooms were clean either. The breakfasts as standard bread and jam. The man on the front desk was nice, and it was good because he spoke some English. The location isn't that nice but it's ok.

We stayed here for a long time. We ended up staying here again after our 10 day trip into the jungle. The place is very clean and smells it too. The bedrooms are great, nice bedding, comfy pillows, towels, soaps etc. also we had read a lot of reviews about other hostels in la paz and how the water pressure and heat was terrible in yeah showers, absolutely NO problem here they were perfect! Breaks was standard bread and jam. Would be nice to use the kitchen that would make this place even better.

This was a beautiful hostel. We loved our stay here. It's not a social butterfly but the rooms are fantastic. We had a double private room and the beds were to die for. Nice feather duvets etc. as a couple this place worked well for us and we would recommend to anyone who needed to chill out time before of after the 3 days of bouncing around on the salt flat tours. Close to everything you need. The Map on how to get here is terrible - get a cab or email them for better directions!

We didn't enjoy our stay in this hostel very much. The staff were friendly however the hostel wasn't especially clean. We had a dead roach in our bathroom and big spiders in our room. The room smelt musty and had no outside windows. The kitchen was small and the equipment was on the verge of being useless. We didn't bother to get involved with the free breakfast as it wasn't very inviting.

Loved this hostel. Great mix of partying and chilling. The pool is beyond what I expected for a hostel pool. I would complain about how cold it was buuuuut it's not possible because no hostel in the whole of South America is like this on! Plussss a cool dip in the pool cures any hangover. I heard they do good BBQ but didn't get the chance to test it. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds are really squeaky though, even squeak when you breath haha. The breakfast is awesome too!,

Very quiet hostel, not in the main tourist areas but is a downhill walk and up again to cerro conception which is lovely. The staff are nice. The hostel is nice too. Not much going on here though. On the plus side because it's quiet it's easy to cook in the kitchen ns they have all he things you'll need. If the hostel was full the kitchen would be a nightmare as it's tiny. The breakfasts as awesome

One of the best hostels we have stayed in during our trip. The staff are all great here, it's like they all eat so much sugar because they're always buzzing and happy. We were told straight away about what to do in the area, what day was best to walk the volcano, where to go for happy hours, where to go an party all night and also what not to do! The kitchen is kinda small to be honest but it's ok. we had a BBQ which was fun. Lots of booze but we did run out of beer so had to move to wine! :)

Everything about this hostel is EXCELLENT! You can't fault it at all... If you were ever to open a hostel staying here would show you how to do it and do it well.. It's so well run and everything is spot on. The staff are helpful and happy. The kitchen is awesome, it's huge, and basically had 3 kitchens so there's always space to cook. You can tell the guests care because they wash up and put away which just shows how well the hostel is run because guests respect it. Rooms and views are AMAZING!

Nice hostel. We met some great people here so that always makes your stay more enjoyable. Umm.. I marked it down on facilities because they didn't have a cork screw haha. We had to run up the road to another hostel to use theirs (this hostel had a bar and pool table - it looked great). The kitchen is big butt he sink is in a STUPID place. Totally impossible to wash up your hinges because it's so confined. Also it's always filthy. The rooms were nice though.

This is a nice place. It's totally out of the way from everything so don't expect to just take a trip to town for some milk because you can't! The hill to the place is huge and walking back to the bus stop in Warton is enough to put me off ever going back or recommending the lodge further. The owner mark is nice but promised Us a lift to the bus stop in the morning and change his mind last minute favouring guests in the lodge rather than the bunk house. The food there was great but maybe a tad £

The reviewer is correct to say we are totally away from everything. In fact, that's the idea...La Confluencia is ideally suited for those travelers looking for an alternative to noisy towns and cities and prefer a remote location with mountain spring water on-tap, farm-fresh organic produce, and direct access to mountain trails. But bring your candy bars with you...it's a 30 min walk to the nearest despensa! Want to thank the writer for giving us the opportunity to clarify.

Where to start? It's odd because the gentlemen that checked us in and welcomed us to the hostel was very helpful, kind and welcoming. This helped us deal with the fact the place was minute and slightly ragged. We knew the hostel wasn't going to be the ritz as it was 80pesos a night per person. We were in the 4 bed dorm. The size of the dorm was good it was spacious and had plug sockets. It's states to email for more Info don't bother you won't get a reply. See my trip advisor review for more...

Don't judge a book by it's cover! The hostel is in a great place very close to supermarkets, local shops and bars. Ok, so it's about 15-20 minutes walk from the bus station, or 20-30 pesos in a taxi... No reason to complain about that. The staff were friendly and always keen to help you out. The national park was shut when we went which was a bummer but the hostel is nice enough to chill out in. The wifi is good too.

We only stayed here overnight due to a change over in buses. We stayed in calafate before in a different hostel which I preferred. This hostel is very big but it seemed nice and clean. We were in a 12 bed dorm. The dorm was nice, so were the bathrooms which were in the dorms. Each bed it's own light which was good and the bunks were enough off the ground to store your bags under which we find extremely useful. Breakfast was standard.

Loved staying here. We stayed 2 nights in prep for torres del paine then a further two nights in recovery from torres del paine. The staff are all friendly and the ones who can speak English can speak it very well. We booked buses to the national parkt through the and to el chalten, making everything a lot easier for us. The breakfast is awesome, a nice banana smoothie, cereal, yogurt & egg! Downstairs rooms are a little noisey in the am but the beds are really comfy but they need new pillows.

The location was fine for us as we don't mind a short walk but it is a little way from the centre involving a climb on your way back, hey but this means the hostel has a beautiful view ! By all means it's only a short 5 minute walk to the local supermarket etc, and there's a small local shop opposite and what looks like a Very very busy restaurant , sadly we didn't get to visit. There's a fly problem in the kitchen area, and tea towels need to be washed ,ore regularly.

The hostel is in a good location, very easy to find everything. Super quiet when we went over Christmas so spent it with each other ... The bar looks good but was dead when we were there. Our room was nice and the dorms looks ok too. The kitchen is small but decent. I'm not sure how the kitchen would work when the hostel is fully booked though? There breakfast was toast, cereal, some fruit and tea and coffee same as everywhere. Nice hostel.

We came right at the start of the season and the hostel was still in its last stages of renovation so it was a bit all over the shop. You could tell that the hostel will be lovely when all the work is done and it's up and running properly. The pool is lovely for a swim, the staff were great and played awesome music, breakfast was good also. When we got there because they were working on the hostel still they upgraded us free of charge to a much nicer double room !! Also got a free lift 2town

This hostel didn't blow me away at all. It has the potential to be much better. Room 1 is so loud you will find it almost impossible to sleep, we ended up at 2am requesting we moved rooms. It's not particularly clean, jams on the tables from breakfast, bins in the kitchen smell and we found a cockroach in our room. The staff are friendly but I wouldn't say they go out of their way to make your stay the nicest. The internet is up down up down too which isn't what you want. You get towels though!

This hostel was a nice stay. The pool is great. Its central and easy to get places. Was difficult for us as we didn't speak Spanish and the staff have very little English. They were friendly and helpful though just the language barrier proved difficult at times for tours, recommendations etc etc. the hostel wasn't the best for atmosphere the table ps are all spread out and everyone sits separately, the layout doesn't promote mingling/socialising.

We highly recommend this hostel. The Staff go above and beyond to help you out and it's great fun in the evenings. Breakfast was decent and was nice to sit at a big table with the other guests giggling about the night before. The pool is a little dirty but it's still alright. Stay here for fun and socialising not if you're grumpy and boring :p
