Truly the premier hostel in Jerusalem. Great central location, knowledgable and helpful staff, a delicious breakfast, and spacious common areas make this hostel a pleasure to stay at. Staff are always willing to help you figure out places to go and how to get there. In addition, the hostel runs a number of tours around the country and has an incredibly cheap airport shuttle that leaves any time of day or night.
Had a lovely time at cleopetra. We got to the hotel at 11, well before check-in, but were able to get into our room when we got there. The staff also gave us a ride to the entrance to Petra and arranged a cheap taxi back to Aqaba for us. The buffer dinner (only 6jd!) was fantastic, although breakfast was a bit sparse. All of the staff were extremely kind and helpful.

The fauzi azar inn is absolutely amazing. There's a wonderful, sumptuous free breakfast and great places to relax, cool off, and read a book. Well-stocked kitchen too.
Lovely, clean, charming hostel. Beautiful sitting areas and outside garden. Only problem is that there was only ever one staff person at the desk to check guests in, answer the phone, and otherwise assist guests, so there were long waits if you needed anything. Other than that, staying here was a total pleasure.
As of this writing (July 2013) this hostel is still a work in progress, despite websites saying that construction is mostly finished. It is very hard to find, since there is no sign and there was roadwork on the surrounding streets. Doors lack locks, you have to step over work stations and rooms being grouted/painted to get to the showers. Was woken up in the morning by construction in the room next door. No indication of any of this before booking. Please, I know it's cheap, but don't stay here
