I must say, this hostel is the creme de la creme of hostels. And we've stayed in quite a few. With all facilities you might need, clean rooms, a beautiful design, lovely staff and perfect location it could only get better if their beds were a bit longer (tall people were complaining). There are 3-4 different wifi routers and they all get pretty slow when there are many people - but it works.
Amazing wifi (speed up to 50mb/s) which is a first in a hostel! Clean enough but the building and decor is alternative and gives the place an alternative and grimier vibe. Well equipped kitchen, large dorm rooms and a lovely cinema room that really brings everyone together.
Great location and the beds are comfortable, but that's about all the positives. The setup is not welcoming at all; there's no common area, the staff is not very cheery and facilities are sparesome. The 6 bed dorm is in a different apartment in the same building, and there's only one key. There are no lockers and the windows of 6 bed dorm are wide open 24/7 with locals smoking right outside looking in. Wifi speed is 3 in reception and 1 in 6 bed dorm. I would not recommend this hostel.
We stayed at 3B hostel for 2 weeks and it's very simple: If you are young and love meeting people (or partying, but this is not mandatory) then 3B is the place for you in Playa. Right next to the beach, this hostel has a great rooftop with a pool. During the day it is better than the beach. During the night they have dj's playing and good deals on drinks (free drinks for ladies monday-saturday from 21 to 22!). Wifi works great on rooftop but sucks downstairs. Breakfast costs 10pesos pr item.
There is a reason this hostel is over all so highly rated. Most comfortable beds I've ever had in a hostel, the cutest atmosphere, best location, and great breakfast. The WIFI is good (which is rare) and they know the meaning of the phrase "spotless" when it comes to cleanliness. Staff is really fun and welcoming too.
Indepencia is more than recommendable. One of my favorite hostels in the world. Pros: Good security, Awesome and relatively cheap activities (recommend BBQ night and half day wine tour), the ultimately best included breakfast I ever saw in a budget hotel (aside from fruit, eggs, pastries, bread, condiments, coffee, tea, cereal and juice you can order pancakes or any kind of eggs and they will make it fresh for you). Cons: Bathrooms could be cleaner but no complaints, very hot in the sumer.

Loftel 22 is new and modern. Very clean, good security systems, comfortable beds, great WIFI and the best coffee shop / cafe in the area in the same building. Mostly due to the fact the area doesn't have much other than grimyness, but if you want to experience this part of the city rather than the touristy part, loftel 22 is perfect. 10 min walk to metro.
Securuty password that changes everyday so good security and no key, big lockers in rooms, a lot of couches and seating, very good kitchen, tv room stacked with DVD's, large comfortable bunkbeds. Stayed for almost 2 weeks and never regretted it. HI Austin really feels like home and has every facility you need. Only minus is location which is quite far from center but right on the shore of a lake! Personally I enjoyed the quiet surroundings and drinking coffee at the lakeshore.
PROS> next to the best eating out street in Barcelona, good aircondition. A lot of games in the cozy commonarea and free badges! The receptionist sometimes makes brazilian snacks for everyone! CONS> a bit far from center. Small kitchen and no breakfast. Not so many people outside of peak season at least.
PROS> everything. I can't say enough good things about this hostel. Location is ideal, there's a rooftop where you can relax, a bar with great happy hour, sometimes cooked dinner, terrace for meeting people, amazing atmosphere, and great staff that knows all the good places. Also enough weekly activities to keep you occupied for your entire stay and see the real Granada. I would come back to this hostel any day. CONS> well.. the breakfast is not free, but it's too good to be free anyway!
PROS> great having my own room at the price of a hosteldorm! Big room, comfy bed and really good but paid breakfast. Good location in the cozyest part of town, minutes from the beach and best nightlife area of the city! CONS> being a backpacker i missed a kitchen, fridge and social activities, but I guess that is the difference between hostels and hotels. Nothing to complain about.
PROS: charming decoration, good kitchen facilities, almost location ON the beach (which is better out there than by the center of malaga), huge dinner offered for 8€. CONS: bad aircon/fans in some rooms, no keys whatsoever; everything is open so you just have to rely on receptionist seeing everything (!!), about 3-4 km to Malaga center so it's bus or 45 min walk.
PROS> amazing rooftop, good location, nice staff and cozy events. CONS> small kitchen but that's pretty much it..
PLUS: the best imaginable location, very clean and modern, a great roof terrace, fully equipped and clean kitchen, very good breakfast and tips for things to do in Madrid. Generally really good value for money, and perfect facilities. MINUS: no sun on the roof terrace most of the time and the door to our ensuite bathroom was a showerdoor of glass and without lock...
PLUS: good location, big rooms. MINUS: dirty kitchen, and doors almost open all the way from the street to every room, so poor security!
PLUS: good breakfast and kitchen facilities, security, clean rooms and common areas, nice staff. MINUS: not very central and situated on the edge of a bad neighborhood, but that's pretty much the only negative thing. I had a really good stay!
location breakfast security lockers under beds beds with curtains - wifi overloaded in the evenings - ONE toilet for whole floor - ONE plug in room for 15
