Not the very best first impression as the area around the seems a little bit run-down and everything is a bit smelly. But the hostel itself is really comfortable and the owner is very friendly and kind. So all in all I enjoyed my stay a lot... Nevertheless, people who can't handle a noisy environment at night or having cats around might prefer another place :)
I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel a lot. It felt like living in a big flat with good friends. Not only the guests, but especially the staff was just amazing. They were always friendly, helpful and tried to bring people together with several activities like hiking, playing volleyball or going together to the local tapas night, which I really liked a lot. Also the rooms are totally new and always clean; and as you nearly can jump from the rooftop into the ocean, the location is just awesome.
Really cool hostel, I enjoyed my time there a lot. Everything was clean and new and it felt secure. The staff was friendly and polite all the time and they show you the main sights of DC and give you some insider hints. Free computers and internet, pancake breakfast. Have to mention the superb free BBQs on Sundays with quality hot dogs and burgers, chips, water melon and ice cream, wow!!
Stayed only for one night, but would recommend this hostel, as I have nothing to complain about. It was cosy and comfortable and the stuff was super friendly and helpful. They help you planning how to get to your next destination and what sights you could visit in Washington. Pancake breakfast, free laundry machines. Unfortunately no computers.

All in all I'll remember the great atmosphere of this hostel. Nice backyard with kitchen, where people can easily get together, have some food and grab some drinks. Pros: Pretty good location for NY, it is easy to get there with the subway. For NY rates very cheap hostel. Free bbqs (3 times a week) and movie nights. Cons: no free internet access, breakfast only until 9am (so i missed it all the time), cleanliness is so-so (good in the dorm rooms, but the restrooms were a little dirty and smelly
Really not much to complain about this hostel. Pros: Organized events every day. Well equipped kitchen. Pretty good location for NY, not directly in Manhattan, but easy to access with the subway. Cons: no free internet access, unfortunately no breakfast, only en-suited and no public showers.
Wow, this hostel comes close to be a hotel. Everything was perfectly organized. Superb, new and well-thought-out facilities. Really good breakfast. Clean all the time. Different events and pub crawls every day. Cons: A little bit expensive (I am backpacking, probably that"s why I hold this opinion :-)), no free internet access
Can't understand the high rating of this hostel to be honest. Seen many hostels that were way better and cheaper then this one. Especially the facilities as well as the whole building are rather worn down. Had no AC in the room (90+ degree!), breakfast is only a toast with butter and jam. The location is also not the best one. Can' call it a pub. Pros: the staff was friendly and tried the best they could, shuttle service to the subway station, "breakfast" until 12:00, free internet access
I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel. It is clean and has pretty modern facilities. The staff was friendly and helpful all the time and the breakfast with croissants, muffins and boiled eggs was way above average. I didn't like the fact that you can't consume your own beer, etc. in the lobby.
Such a comfortable and cosy little hostel with a really personal atmosphere. Andre and caroll do a really great job. Perfect cleanliness and tasty pancakes in the morning. I really enjoyed this stay. They also give superb advices, what attractions to attend and where to go. That saves a lot money =)
Amazing hostel. I loved how they try to bring people together (pub crawls, blues night, free bbq, ...). The staff was really friendly and extraordinary helpful all the time. Breakfast was ok, cleanliness for such a big hostel not too bad.
