Terrific location: 2 minutes from the Grand Canal, 4 minutes walking from the train station, 7 minutes from the bus station. Nice staff and breakfast (croissants and other bread, plus coffee). The room and hotel are very nice. Only the bathroom wasn't up to par. We paid for a room with a private bath. Turned out to be one of the shared baths in the hallway got a temporary sign on it that this bath was reserved. The bath was horribly narrow, cramped, and smelled strongly of mildew.
We felt like we were getting European flavor, starting here, other than we appreciated the extraordinary a/c (not sure that's the true European experience). Great location, right on a bus line and walking distance to the train station, a little longer, but still very reasonable walking distance to Il Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Academy Museum (all must sees). Very happy with this place, and it's affordable!
We were pretty happy with the facilities, and definitely can't find a better price! On the second night a fight broke out between some young guys, who were shouting at each other for 15 minutes and fighting outside our tent at 3 am. They were kicked out the next morning, but it took way too long for Security to do anything while it was going on. I thought the staff was quite unsympathetic to the guys, which was appropriate. The tent facilities were comfortable enough, and had a locking door.
