Perth Youth Hostel

Perth, Scotland

Very helpful warden even although I arrived in the evening. Handy location when with a car but away from the centre for those without their own transport.

HI Boston

Staff great; breakfasts substantial; dorm roomy with shelf, sockets and light for each bed en suite with soap, shampoo and any amount of towels provided; more toilet facilities just outside the dorm. Found dorm too warm but provided with a sheet . Lots of room in dining area, other sitting areas avaiable with wifi throughout hostel-slowere during peak times. Only the door from reception through to dorms and facilties was locked although supplied with a key card but wasn't aware of any problems.

Helpful staff, good location, cosy atmoshpere, dorms/ toilets a bit cramped.

Great selection for breakfast, female dorm roomy with air con., light for each bed and toiletries and towel provided. Plenty of sitting areas. Small detail was shower curtain difficult to keep in shower tray so floor got wet easily. Also found the door on the street open x3. But all in all was very impressed, would recommend it and would book again.

Food in cafe was very good and reasonably priced. A member of staff handed in my camera which I'd left there. Dorm was a bit stuffy and noisy from traffic. Folk in dorm were friendly.

Thank you for reviewing us! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay here & hope we’ll be your 1st choice for your next visit to Victoria. Our downtown location allows easy access to everything Victoria has to offer, the only downside to having such an ideal location is the susceptibility to street noise. However, we have front desk staff available 24/7 to assist in any room changes. We’re glad you enjoyed our cafe & hope you can join us soon for one of our live event nights! Safe travels.

The Nunnery

Melbourne, Australia

Great variety of breads and spreads for breakfast and tea and coffee all day a bonus too. Kitchen a good place to meet people but rather on the small side in the cooking area and hostellers seem to be leaving dishes unwashed. Plenty of toilet and shower facilities. Dorms facing the road are not for light sleepers with noisy traffic most of the night. Maybe needed to clamp down on keeping the dorms tidier tho' still value for money. Reception folk were all helpful, thanks.

North Borneo Cabin

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

Central location, great welcome and lots of help from young girl on staff, free lockers available, hot water, toilet roll and toothpaste, coffee/t but no milk, bread/toast and jam for breakfast. Fans rather than ac, dorms needed swept /mopped more often and if you are ok with climbing stairs good value for money

Dillenia Guest House

Miri, Malaysia

Mrs Lee has thought of everything in setting up the hostel: t/coffee all day; always plenty of loo paper;toiletries including toothpaste;adequate provision of toilets and showers;drying area; ac in rooms;good security;2computers and fast wifi;healthy bfast and everywhere is spotless. Mrs Lee herself is such a wonderful hostess/manager and listener and nothing is too much trouble for her. It was really like home from home. Had a great stay, thanks.

The Nook, city homestay

Kuching, Malaysia

Appreciated being able to walk to the main sights and have food, shops and banks nearby, having toiletries available but better to have a blanket and towel, access to a landline and a computer. Thin partitions between rooms could have been a problem although it wasn't while I was there. Frankie, the owner, seemed surprised to hear that the hostel was being advertised with free lifts from the airport but was good at organising folk to do trips and taking them herself.

de Talak Hostel

Bangkok, Thailand

Staff very helpful especially Bee. So many extras for the money:shampoo; soap; en suite in dorms; free coffee/t /water and ice cream; lots of maps and pamphlets and freebie box and microwaves. Everywhere very clean. Loved being in an area where real Thai folk lived and worked. Lots of food stalls in area. As a light sleeper so found the AC noisy and the corridor light annoying late at night. If you didn't have much time it was far from the tourist area but fun to try all forms of transport.

MD House

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Hostel were helpful considering I'd messed up the booking but had to pay more for a room than I'd wished so for this reason only checked out after 1 night. Breakfast was good it was an English style breakfast with no Thai alternative and I prefer to try eating local food. With moving out early I didn't get time to relax in a pool but was allowed extra time on a computer to sort out my next accommodation. AC In room didn't work but fan was sufficient while I was there.

Got a good welcome and enjoyed being out of the city centre and near a beautiful park altho' plenty of buses into the centre. Found it hard to sleep without air conditioning and with the noise of the traffic. Wanted to give the place a spring clean and would have liked cooking facilities.

Appreciated all the help from the staff in English as I had no other language, the air conditioning, en suite facilities and secure lock in the 4 bedded dorm. Enjoyed living in the old city with it's architecture, markets, crafts and restaurants. Needed my ear plugs for the music from the school, the workmen and traffic starting early in the morning and would have appreciated kitchen facilities.
