The location was really good. Facilities are average, but they are much better than those those hostels in Copacabana. However the staffs do not seem to know nor care much about restaurantes or any other activities around the hostel. Maybe the facilities are crab but the atmosphere of the hostels in Copacabana was way better.

Barra Beach Club Oceanfront Hostel

Probably the hostel has the best view to the ocean among the all the hostels that I used in the world. The staffs were friendly. However they are only using the code to enter so that previous travelers could enter the room anytime they want even after they left.

Hi Kyung, thanks for the nice review. We actually have 4 "lines of defense". The 1st is the main gate code that we change every 2 weeks that only clients are given. 2nd, is our eco-friendly reusable bracelets which ensure that only active clients are on premises. 3rd, is each house, not rooms, has another separate security entrance code. And the 4th is that all public areas, not rooms, are monitored by LIVE security cameras. Also, 99% of guests that check-out, leave the Florianopolis area. Jim

For someone reason, the staff was a Japanese lady and could barely write proper English so that I was confused about the way to get there from Belo Horizonte. Also she was a short time traveler in the city so that she did not know about the area including the names of streets.

What is the problem with my Japonese Staff? After 20 years living in Australia I am sure that she is able to write and to talk a proper English. If was not enough for you maybe next time use the American Way: Google. You should beware when using words. Think about the people that you met here and helped you when you got without your credit card. I (Lidiane) am living here almost 2 years and I don't know all the streets as well.

The staffs were wonderful, and the hostel has a nice social atmosphere. However stacking three beds vertically all together was a big downside.
