Dar Jameel

Tangier, Morocco

Dar Jameel is gorgeous; the rooftop terrace is very pleasant, breakfast is delicious, and the friendly staff greet you on arrival with mint tea and biscotti. BUT: bedbugs. I awoke in the night to dozens of them, and in the end had over 100 bites. The night clerk was very apologetic and moved us to a new clean room, but in the morning the manager said "they live in the wood, it's not a problem". And the room was already ready for the next victim. Overall: wonderful, but check for bugs.

Tangier Melting Pot Hostel

Tangier, Morocco

Great rooftop terrace, lots of opportunities to socialize. Lockers small but they locked, good kitchen, breakfast of bread and tea. Recommended!

Antares Hostel

Nice, France

Great experience. Underbed lockers, refrigerator in the dorm room as well as extensive kitchen facilities, mixers both night I stayed with cheap food. A 2-minute walk from the train station, 10 from the beach, and right next to grocery stores and restaurants.

Hostel Pisa

Pisa, Italy

Bathroom cleanliness left something to be desired and not all locker doors closed, but entry security was good, as was the kitchen. Located across town from the tower, but close to the train station and groceries.

Hostel 7 Santi

Florence, Italy

Decent location, a couple kilometers from the center of town; had lockers (but they didn't all close) and locking doors. Comfortable, clean beds.
