Alfama Patio Hostel

Lisbon, Portugal

Alfama Patio Hostel was like a dream come true. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean and worked very well (in fact my room had a rain shower), and the staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The coolest thing about this hostel was the atmosphere; the outdoor lounging area was absolutely perfect for meeting new friends or enjoying an afternoon out of the heat. And do the dinners for 8 euros; the woman that prepares them is magical in the kitchen. The food was delicious!

Hotel San Salvador

Venice, Italy

The beds were a little bit hard and the shower small but that wasn't unusual in Venice I think. Having an air conditioner in each room was fantastic; each room was a fantastic getaway from Venice's heat and humidity. The two women who work the front desk are amazing! They were both so friendly and helpful and great to talk to or get information from. They are the biggest reason I would return to this hotel.
