Hostel Cat

I've stayed in Hostels around the world, and my experience in Hostel Cat was one of the best i've ever had. It's not the most glamorous place ive ever seen, but what you get for 18 bucks a night is awesome! And the open courtyard with giant picnic table is one of the most social common spaces i've seen in a hostel and meant meeting people was the easiest thing in the world. Made some good friends in this place. I'd recommend this place for anyone who wants a social, good quality, fun hostel.

Bob's Youth Hostel

Simple but effective hostel, good for meeting people. Good things: Sociable common room, great location in the centre and slightly cheaper than other options around. Egg and two slices of toast for breaky was good too. Bad things: Super steep stair (but thats normal i found in Amsterdam) which is a little annoying with getting heavy luggage upstairs. No kitchen to cook your own food, and the showers drained really slowly so either have very short showers, or only turn the shower on a little bit

Make sure you go to the right place to start with. Walking the 15 minutes to the reception with heavy bags , and then back again is not fun. Otherwise really good facilities. Common room is alright but i didn't find it particularly social.
