Ok Hostel Madrid

Hostel is brand new, so I expected it to be clean, modern and with good facilities - it delivered. The staff were all incredibly friendly & welcoming & the hostel itself is spotlessly clean & in a very central location. Lockers in the dorms were very well designed. I stayed in a 4 bed room and there was a very large drawer under the bed, but also a sliding press behind each pillow. Inside, was storage space, your own socket for phone/laptop charging & a reading light. Incredibly useful!

Excellent hostel, one of my favourites and I've stayed in quite a few over the years. Only real negative comment is no ambient music in the common areas. So if no one has a suitable device to play their own music, it's a little dead.

Very spacious, clean rooms with amazing views of the island. Comfortable with decent shower, also. Highly recommended!

Comfortable facilities, located very centrally. My room was located away from the street, so noise wasn't an issue. Areas for improvement with regard cleanliness and decor, but overall a positive experience. (I stayed for two separate bookings, both times I was satisfied)

8 bed mixed dorm - Hostel excellent location with helpful staff. Cool bar with good variety of drinks & the beds were comfy. The cleanliness of the rooms was bad though. Clean sheets, but the solid bed-bases had dirt, other peoples hair & other nastiness at the sides. The Men's toilet/showers on 2nd floor (and 3rd floor) didn't seem to get cleaned at all during our stay, and parts of the building seemed pretty run down. Broken door handles in the cubicles and loose shower fittings.

We stayed in a 4 bed private dorm, & it was spacious and clean. The hostel is in a great location and it's well priced. The staff were able to help us with directions. Wi-Fi on the fifth floor (This hostel is massive) was often not usable. Most of the clientele appeared to be Scottish, staying in the city for the weekend (Halloween) & there seemed to be few foreign backpackers. The common room was empty, but the bar downstairs was PACKED with people, again mostly locals. Would stay again.

Amsterdam Hostel Orfeo

Amsterdam hostels are notoriously overpriced for the quality you receive. This hostel is no exception. We only stayed for one night which was fine. However, I would not want to stay longer. The room was grubby and the toilet and showers unclean. You had to pay €1.50 for towel rental and €3.00 to store your bags after you checked out (if you were waiting on a flight and wanted to hang out in the city etc..) Wi-Fi worked reasonably well, and the location is good. The staff were helpful too.

Quirky hostel located near main railway station, and about 20-25 minute walk to main areas of the city. Amsterdam is a perfect city for cycling, so I recommend renting a bike regardless of what hostel you stay in. :) The boat is secure, clean and the beds are comfortable. The room we had (twin) was very small (as you'd expect) and along with small windows, it got stuffy and warm very quickly. As far as Amsterdam hostels go, this place is really nice, location is the only real issue though.

Nice hostel, with large communal area and outside BBQ picnic table area for meeting fellow backpackers. Room was a 6 bed mixed dorm, no sink. Toilets and showers were clean and the bar and reception staff quite helpful. Central location and decent atmosphere. Would stay again. :)

Cleanest, prettiest hostel I've stayed in. Great location with helpful staff. Good value for money and comfy beds. Small lobby area though, and lack of atmosphere. Not easy to meet fellow backpackers.

Reasonably close to city, rooms grubby and no atmosphere. It's like a large, crappy hotel. Massive queues at reception were common, as staff were always overwhelmed with check-ins, check-outs and general queries. Luggage room a mess and someones bag had been stolen recently. We only stayed for one night, which was fine though.

Best hostel I've stayed in! -Small room, but clean with comfy beds - Clean throughout, showers and toilets always clean - Helpful, friendly staff - Reception with useful maps, and paper cut out directions of various attractions for you to take for free to explore city - Large communal area with comfy seats, instruments to use and a small computer room - Bar, large kitchen and a BEER GARDEN which is especially awesome for meeting fellow travelers Cannot fault this hostel! :D
