Nice rooms, but anyone could walk into the hostel and wander upstairs. Comfy beds. Terrible showers. Common room atmosphere wasn't great -- basically a circle of couches where everyone could sit and be on their phones. No kitchen.
A nice hostel -- atmosphere and fantastic dorm rooms were highlights. Staff put on various activities each night, often with free drinks and meals. It's a party hostel, so be aware of that. There are some good tours offered too, although similar tours are cheaper at at least one other Kotor hostel.
Free breakfast was a really nice touch! Nice big kitchen, dorms nice and clean but the large one I was in was pretty squishy. Not much social activity going on when I was there, but the staff were nice. Near the university area with lots of cheap eats and pubs.
Fantastic hostel with absolutely lovely owners, who drove some of us out into the Burren for a (free!) tour of the area and showed us a photo slide demonstration and some cool rocks from the region -- nice way to spend a wet, stormy night. Common room is really cute and cosy with a peat fire. Beds are comfy and kitchen is really nice. Stay here!
Lovely place, lovely staff. Got a free upgrade to my own room, which was very kind. Nice big kitchen, a cosy common room and terrace. Plus, there's a hostel dog in case you're missing your pet from home :)
Nice bar area separate from common room and large kitchen. Had a concert one night with great live music, too. Close to the train and bus stations, but across the bridge from town (5-10 minute walk). Clean rooms and nice bathrooms. There were several middle-aged guests here during my stay, so the average age here may skew older.
Can't beat this for 10 pounds a night on weekdays!
Really clean, friendly staff, good atmosphere, nice kitchen and an outdoor rooftop bar and terrace. Stay here!
It's a party hostel, so if you know that you should be fine. Kind of a grungy feel and a couple of the staff were really rude. I switced to Central Backpackers and it was MUCH nicer.
Enjoyed the bar and atmosphere. Lots of events and good way to meet other travellers. Go check out the Thursday night Beatles covers at the Cavern Club! Just a heads up - some of the bigger dorms are in the basement! There are windows, but it's a bit disconcerting. Staff were all nice, including the cleaning staff.
No locks on the bedroom doors and no padlocks provided for lockers. Hostel is also up a million stairs, although they give fair warning. No free wifi and no bar. Showers and toilets were okay but there aren't many per floor. A bit far from the Royal Mile compared to many other popular hostels. Value for money just wasn't great. You can find better in Edinburgh!
Very clean and new hostel and friendly, helpful staff. Decor is really nice, too -- kitschy chic! Downfalls: the 15-minute walk into town and the lack of social activity in the lounge. The kitchen ended up being the hangout spot! Would be nice for non-partiers or older folks, or people seeking quiet. If you're travelling solo, you might be lonely.
