I loved this hostel. It has many pleasant terraces, dining areas and chill-out locations. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the place has a good vibe. The rooms lack some attention to detail, but are more than satisfactory for the price. The 12 noon check-in time is a great feature, not something I've seen in a hostel before. And the breakfast was wonderful (thanks for those tasty crepes).
Nice building and location BUT an awful experience. Staff did not attempt to control the large group of drunk travellers who were extremely noisy and intrusive. Random people wandering in and out of the dorms until 3am, shouting, laughing and playing loud music. This is fine if a hostel advertises itself as a party hostel, but Bonarda Bon does not. Dorms were very untidy and not secure. Bathrooms were unhygienic. The kitchen was piled high with dirty dishes from the big group of travellers.
I very much enjoyed the time I spent at Wild Elephants. The staff and owner are friendly and helpful, the premises are clean, fast wifi, regular pub crawls and an excellent location - step outside and you're essentially in the town square. Recommended.
This is an excellent hostel, the staff were very helpful and organised a number of interesting and unique activities, including appearing on a Japanese TV show! Great location near the Sensoji temple and shopping streets, great wifi, very clean and a good atmosphere. Recommended.
A good place to stay only if other hostels are full. There's not much atmosphere and the place is rather drab, but it is clean, the wifi connection good, and good kitchen facilities. Check out is very early at 10am and check-in very late at 4pm.
I always stay here when I'm in London. The hostel is a beautiful old mansion, the beds have curtains, there's a big free breakfast, free tea and coffee during the day and a tube station 3 minutes walk away. As with any very large hostel, there's not much atmosphere, even in the large common room, but otherwise I recommend this place.
I always stay at this hostel when in London. Its set in a beautiful old building, the beds are comfortable and have curtains for privacy, there's a large common room, an on-site bar and free buffet breakfast. Very convenient for the subway. Recommended.
An excellent, clean and conveniently located hostel. Friendly staff, nice onsite cafe and bar. As with many very large hostels, its not the easiest place to meet new people except in the dorms. Not cheap, but would be happy to stay again.
Great hostel near the Termini station, within easy walking distance of many of the sights, including the Colloseum, Pantheon etc. Very friendly and helpful staff who were full of advice on the sights and things to do. They have a excellent free buffet breakfast and a fast wifi network. Would definitely stay again.
A great hostel located near Gion. Very friendly and helpful staff, who assisted greatly in providing information about the sights and activities in Kyoto - lots of pre-prepared information, maps and local events advertised. The hostel was immaculately clean and has a large communal kitchen and huge Japanese-style lounge area (with comfortable sofas). Plenty of showers and all toilets are electronic. Would definitely stay again.
A pleasant and friendly guesthouse five minutes from the Tennoji station with connections to the subway and rail network. Clean, good wifi, plenty of kitchen facilities and a traditional Japanese lounge.
A good hostel with friendly and helpful staff located very near the railway station and tram stop. Good wifi and curtains on the dorm beds. Arranged a walking tour whilst I was there, unfortunately I was too ill to attend. Would definitely stay again.
A friendly and helpful guesthouse, located in a beautiful district on the river near temple street and a nearby tram stop. Liked the place, the staff and the people I met. Would definitely stay again. My dorm room was on the top which is a bit of a hike up 4 sets of stairs.
Nice hostel, friendly staff, clean and good wifi. Located in walking distance from a transport hub and the nightlife area. Not much in the way of kitchen facilities but still a good place to stay if in Fukuoka.
One of my favourite hostels, it has the right balance of everything - great staff, good atmosphere, dorm beds with privacy curtains, free breakfast, good wifi, great location - everything a traveller needs. Good stuff.
Good and bad points to this hostel. Location is beautiful, overlooking a rice paddy, on an attractive lane with easy access to bars, restaurants and tourist facilities. Nice bar with a great view, nice outdoor lounge area. Good place for meeting other backpackers. Staff were fine except for the reception lady, who was rude. Power sockets didn't work in the dorm, wifi was unusable and bathroom was dirty. Shoes are worn indoors. On balance I wouldn't stay there again.
This is a great guesthouse - the staff are friendly, the place is spotlessly clean, the rooms are wonderfully cold with the air conditioning, there's a pleasant and good-sized pool in a leafy garden with lounge areas, free coffee, free filtered water, a kitchen and wifi. Everything you need! I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Sanur.
A really good guesthouse, friendly staff, good location, cheap beer and a great place to meet people in the bar. Recommended.
Great hostel, great local staff, meet loads of people - recommended if you're in Phnom Penh.
A lovely place, great local staff who were very welcoming and friendly. Very near the centre, close to the old town and pub street. Recommended.
Great place, enjoyed my stay there. Clean, free vodka after 9pm, aircon in the rooms, helpful staff and met lots of people. Recommended if you're in Vientiane.
I loved this hostel - friendly service, great cafe / bar / lounge for meeting people, well-priced menu, comfortable dorms. A good experience.
The Old Observatory is an interesting hostel with great views over the city, very helpful staff and a pleasant roof-top bar / restaurant / chill-out area with free-flow beer each evening - as much as you can drink - for only 20Y! I enjoyed my time there. Could be cleaner (it was quite dusty), and you'll need to catch buses to see the sights. Would I stay there again? Happily.
I love this hostel - the staff are great (I was invited to join them for dinner more than once), the building is beautiful, the surrounding hutong is interesting and there's a subway nearby. I will stay here every time I'm in Beijing.
I enjoyed my stay here, there was a great bar and outdoor seating area, and the staff were very helpful. Located near the Sanlitun bar district which was great. The hostel arranges trip to the Great Wall for a good price. Unfortunately there's no facilities to store or cook your own food and no free drinking water.
I always stay here when in Hong Kong, its a great hostel, well located, good facilities and an excellent place to meet people. Bit disappointed on this last occasion by some of the staff - one was rude on my arrival, another made little effort to help me with an issue I had, and the overnight staff don't make any effort to keep the lounge area clean, so first thing in the morning its pretty messy before the cleaning staff arrive. That being said, the staff are predominantly friendly.
I had a great time at Chocolate Box, it will certainly be the hostel I choose the next time I'm in Taipei. Friendly staff, nice lounge areas, good for meeting people, nearby night market and MRT.
I had a great stay at FuQi and found the staff to be warm and welcoming. They helped with all my queries and also invited me to join them for dinner in a local restaurant. If you're in Tainan then I recommend this hostel.
I enjoyed my time here and would be happy to stay there again the next time I'm in Taipei
The hostel is clean, the staff helpful, the location good for the metro, Longshan temple and nearby nightmarkets. There's a nice lounge area in the loft but not many people use it, so the atmosphere was not as good as I hoped. A quiet but enjoyable stay here.
A nice enough hostel room within a hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly but don't speak very good English. The place is clean, and I met a lot of interesting backpackers there. The location is good also, very near the subway and a local market and temple.
A beautiful ryokan, complete with rice paper walls, tatami flooring, zen garden and onsen. Very good price for the experience of a traditional japanese inn. The staff were friendly and it's a good place to meet other backpackers. Recommended.
I had a wonderful time at the hostel, the owner - Miki - was very friendly and helpful, the place was spotlessly clean, and I met some great people there. I highly recommend this hostel if you're staying in Kanazawa.
