I was very underwhelmed by my stay here after all the good reviews. I stayed in a dorm room at the front which was extremely noisy as an advertising board opposite plays music around the clock. Ear plugs are a must, particularly as there can be a lot of noise in the common area that filters into the dorms. I think the description as a bed and breakfast was a bit of a stretch too. Breakfast was literally a loaf of bread and a pot of jam shoved on a table. I've had much better in other hostels.

A Little Bird 2 Guest House, Chiang Mai, Thailand
6.9
10th Apr 2014

Little Bird 2 is okay- clean enough, with decent enough facilities in a good location. It's nothing particularly special. The staff are nice but lack initiative in telling you about things that are happening. The rooms weren't particularly clean, as the staff don't make the beds you do so they don't really find a lot of trash under beds etc. Decent enough, but I'm sure there are much nicer places to stay in Chiang Mai.

I've now stayed in 10 hostels on my trip and this one has easily been my favourite. It's clean, the owner is awesome and the location is fantastic, being so close to the BTS. They have helped me arrange tours, taxis and made sure I had a breakfast to take with me on the mornings I've left early. On potential niggle- if you suffer from mobility issues, their steep, steep stairs might not be you!

The Siem Reap Hostel, Siem Reap, Cambodia
9.4
1st Apr 2014

The Siem Reap Hostel is the ideal place to base yourself for a visit to the city. They have Tuk-Tuk drivers who work for the hostel and don't try to rip you off. The facilities are incredible, the staff are nice but a little less friendly than at other hostels I stayed at. If you don't like big hostels, this isn't for you but otherwise I'd definitely recommend it!

I very, very much enjoyed my stay at Me Mates. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly! They really made the stay worth it! The only thing that would have been nice was an individual light and plug socket by each bed, but otherwise, perfect!

Hanoi Hostel on Hang Vai, Hanoi, Vietnam

5th Mar 2014

After a hideous first hostel experience, Hanoi hostel was a breath of fresh air. The staff were incredibly accomodating. The dorm rooms were clean and the free breakfast and free beer were definite draws. I went to Halong Bay for 3 nights and they were more than willing to let me leave my big backpack with them and to let me chill at their hostel whilst waiting for the train to Hue. Recommended.

Rainbow Lodge HK, Hong Kong, Hong Kong China

27th Feb 2014

I really enjoyed my stay at Rainbow Lodge Hostel. The rooms were clean and it was small and compact. It's location right next to TST MTR station was fantastic, making travelling around Hong Kong incredibly easy. Because it's Hong Kong it's a little small but perfectly adequate for a few nights in the city. There are lockers to secure your belongs and free drinks available. The wi-fi is decent too.

Sp@Itaewon Guesthouse, Seoul, South Korea

The hostel is perfectly nice- good facilities and a great location. But the weather was very snowy and being up a hill, the ice made getting to the hostel very difficult and dangerous. It would have been nice if they'd cleared the snow and ice around the hostel to make it easier to access the hostel since it didn't feel safe. This place is good and in a great location but if the weather is bad, I might consider staying elsewhere.

Khaosan Seoul Insadong, Seoul, South Korea
8.9
26th Jul 2013

The hostel was really nice- the location was fantastic for doing all things touristy in Seoul and the hostel owner was incredibly friendly. I had to leave a day early and he helped my friend with a giant suitcase and to grab a cab. My only small grumble is that the shower was not great- it was hard to get a temperature that wasn't cold or hot and the a/c unit was a bit noisy (but we overcame that with ear plugs). It was worth the money and I'd be happy to stay there again.
