Cordial House Hostel

Stayed in both a mixed dorm and a double room. There was only one key to the dorm and the system of 'last one out takes the key back to reception' wasn't well advertised, which caused problems. There were no lockers/safes. Kitchen was lacking in cutlery but otherwise good, dining area and lounge area was large. Wifi in common areas but not rooms. Double room was nice, location was excellent, centre of town, near cheap supermarkets, and organised airport pickup was efficient. Would recommend.

Crosspoint Sofia Hostel

Booked a twin private which was very nice, spacious and clean. Location is good, staff were helpful, kitchen was better equipped than most, if a little small. No space to eat but there is a common room upstairs in a different part of the hostel which had a table. There was an extra charge for laundry. Overall no problems, great price, would recommend.

Excellent hostel. Booked a twin private, got an apartment with one other double room, large kitchen, dining room with tv, bathroom and washing machine. No lockers but the door to our room was lockable. Room was large and comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful, facilities were in working order, location is great. Great price too, would definitely recommend.

Palace Hostel Split

Bit of a gamble. We booked a two-person private room and got put in an apartment with two other double rooms, a bathroom, washing machine, kitchen, lounge area, and a balcony. It was a great location and a nice apartment, although the room doors didn't lock and there were no lockers/safes. If you get put in the main hostel, there is no kitchen, the 'beds' are inflatable mattresses and doors don't lock.Incredible location but make a note of the address, there are no signs and the palace is a maze.

Beds N Roses Hostel

Excellent Hostel. Only complaint would be that the directions they give you don't take you to the door, it's at number 20 on a street called Zichy Jeno, Google map it. Staff were very friendly, rooms were big, clean, ensuite, and a great price. Location was great, kitchen well-equipped. There's no 24h reception but this isn't a problem as you exchange numbers and arrange when to check in, and there's a diary on the wall letting everyone know when staff will be around. Free laundry and computers.

Great hostel, everything was thought of. There were large lockers in the rooms for rucksacks, kitchen equipped with free pasta, a sociable bar(rooms were away from the bar so not noisy), really friendly and helpful staff who allowed us to check in early in the morning. You had to pay to use the computers but wifi was free. There was no aircon so not ideal in a heatwave but otherwise perfect, couldn't ask for more.

Ostello S. Fosca

Venice, Italy

Location was excellent, on the island so you could see Venice after the day-trippers go home. There was a curfew at 12:30am. The kitchen was very well equipped, the wifi was good but only worked in the communal area. There was a ceiling fan but no air-con, maybe a problem depending when you visit. Staff were friendly and there was free use of a communal computer. You had to pay extra to use the safes for valuables. Hostel was clean but couldn't close some of the windows which attracted mosquitos

Ivanhoe Hostel

Rome, Italy

Really good location, near to the station and the Colosseum. Highlight was the socials every night, alternating between free pasta and free cocktails, which was a great way to meet other travellers and save some money! The hostel has a lockout between 11am and 4pm but the reception is open through the night, with friendly staff. There were no lockers for bags but there were safes for valuables. Kitchen was good, Wifi worked well and there was free use of computers. Would recommend it!
