Hostal Santo Domingo, Puebla, Mexico

10th Dec 2015

The hostel is in an ideal location, and if you approach them in Spanish they can be very helpful. If they can't understand, they look for a translator. The Breakfast is minimal, only sugary cereals and bananas. The coffee needs improving( needs to be stronger), but it IS free, and they offer teas as well. The large hostel room is very large, but it is quiet enough after 10 . It needs a working Tv in a common area. The lockers need to be larger.

The hostel was clean, well managed, and the storage lockers were unusually large. The location can't be beat, and they have a 24 hour lobby.. When I was there the tv in the lounge wasn't operating, which was a disapointment. There was a tv in the kitchen lobby, however. The breakfast was ok, though the coffee could have stood some improvement. Aty least they gave real eggs for breakfast, yogurt, and cereal. It wasn't a particularly social atmosphere, but the beds were nice and firm.

As usual, a good stay. They have taken away their tourism concierge desk, but the staff is still very good about tourism advice. The kitchen is still about the best equipped for a hostel, always kept clean- with a great dining room as well as three different social rooms. 24 hour opening- and a very good small cafe-restaurant on site. You just can't beat the facilities- They also run at least one extracurriclar tourist activity a day for reasonable prices. The best place to stay in NY.

It's a good place to stay when you visit LA with the following provisions: You can tolerate a party hostel- with courtyard noise every night, You can tolerate a large range of housemates. Cleaning up after roomates who threw up after drinking is a regular occasion, though they were good enough people. The rooms actually have kitchens and refrigerators in the suites, and they are kept clean enough. They have cable TV in the suites. The Wifi Works well. Filling breakfast of carbs.

My stay was a good one. My key card worked the entire week I stayed, which does not always happen in key card hostels, the staff was very friendly and useful, and even asked me if I wanted to physically eject the very sleeping man who found my bed very comfortable. I told them no, I'd rather not wake everyone else up in the process of getting a bed. So, they found another bed in the same dorm, which worked out very well. There were fun activities all week, and the tour of brooklyn was very good.

Nice tv room, excellent public patio areas, relaxing and friendly environment, excellent host. He has good and useful advice for everyone. Useable kitchen with sufficient utensils and pots, good location, reliable Wi-F, and a small free breakfast of crepes and syrup.. I would stay there again ANYTIME. The beds are comfortable, and there seems to be enough blankets.

A good place to hang out after a hard day of seeing the city. The one complaint i would have about it is that often the noise level was unacceptable. One night they even had a party on the roof at 130 decibels. The sound carried to the main floor without any problem, and in fact, the door to the roof was kept open to ensure we heard it all. Bring ear plugs and enjoy!

You can't beat the location, it has a full time guard, and has full 24 hour staffing, and the help is helpful.Niee people. Clean beds. They need to fix the wifi, though their installed computers and internet work fine. Breakfasts are nothing but very small glasses of juice, milk, and very tiny bowls of cereal and sometimes yogutrt. Not great. Always some toast and gummy fake looking margarine. Nothing but the cheapest, along with a few fruits.

It is a great place to stay if you want a cool beach party vibe. You wake up to the sight of a turquoise carribean bay, and the bar there has some food and pleny of alcohol. The staff is great. If its full, and in full party mode, keeping your stuff safe may be an issue. I was there when it was partly empty, and it was just fine. It was clean. Not enough shuttles. I, had a blast relaxing there by the pool. It is far walk from town, and its a taxi ride, 2 dollars each way, to the town.

The place has very good character, and you can't ask for a better owner/manager. He's a man with a good heart and good intentions. The architecture of the place is uniquely charming and suited to its purpose. Its social room is social, and the outside bar is even more social. The area seems safe, and transport to the center can be gotten easily., It is also within 'walkable' distance to the center, about a mile and a half.

The location is about 7 blocks from the Plaza de Armas, about 10 minutes. All rooms face the courtyard, which was noisy when not full. Whn full, and a bar running, it would be raucous. The staff was helpful. HOt water was good. Mattresses were stiff, rooms more or less clean. Lots of movies and a movie'tv room. Breakfast was a roll, margarine, and a banana with tea.No inside place to eat the food, and the mornings can be cold. Internet works, but can be slow.

A good location in Upper Manhattan. Good food, subway, and culture. The rooms are small and lack character, like a clean flop house. They need chairs in the rooms. Otherwise, just fine. The downstairs social area is large enough, and they show movies at night. Its a very pleasant and classy atmosphere. Wi-fi works, but very slowly. There is not much of a kitchen to talk about, but restaurants are nearby, and cheap meals. Very pleasant staff. Well worth the lower price! Would go again.

A very fun place to be. It has a part time bar, people that stay up all night long talking outside, and even a small pool. The staff are friendly, and people thre are friendly, Its a relatively cool patio, for new orleans, and there are plugs for laptops everywhere. There is wifi. (they charge for using the one machine they have available) Location is not bad. Its a bus ride to downtown, 1.25 each way. Not bad at all. Overall, to be recommended for someone who wants a social hostel.

The hostel staff were friendly and responsive. The place is very well air conditioned, which is important in summer. The facilities offered are good. Breakfast consists of pancakes and syrup, The location could be better, but it\\\'s only 8 short blocks from a key tram line, and acceptable, given all the other plusses. Its a very social hostel, and making friends there is easy. Its not a party hostel, there is no bar on site. I would go there in a heartbeat. again

\\\\\\\\ Great Place. the staff is good and helpful, and now there is WiFi! Ps. when you get off the train, turn towards the church steeple and take the stone path, do not go down any stairs. It goes straight, and up some steps, at that point you\\\\\\\'re at a parking lot, and you exit the parking lot to the left. Theres really only one exit, go towards the toll gate. Turn right onto the street after the lot, then right again. Its the green door.

The receptionists are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are suirprisingly clean and quiet considering some of them are bunk rooms with 18 beds. The location is good, near movie theatres and a market. It has a pub, but it is closed between 12 and 8 pm. The only other social area is the lobby and perhaps the tv room downstairs, which is almost never used. It is a nice quiet hostel for people who don't want to see groups of young kids whooping it up. I had no problems here, at all. They try to be as accomodating as possible. There is no curfew, and the breakfast is all you can eat bread, coldcuts, cold cereal, and cheese, with hot cocoa and coffee, of course. Finding it is fairly easy. Just look for the Hotel D'Europe and go up the street where the entrance to the hotel is. Then keep on walking until you find a bridge, cross it, and walk up the street. I would definitely stay here again, since I like a quiet place.

I stayed here in 2006, but the place left an impression on me. It is essentially a characterless hotel where you share rooms with people. Clean, efficient, a good place to sleep, and that's about it. It has many stories, yet there is no social room to speak of, and the kitchen is a joke. You have to sign out the utensils. The location is acceptable to good.

The itchen consists of a microwave. Thats it. Dishes must be gotten from reception. It feels like a cheap hotel with clean rooms. The common room, if you can call it that, is a basement room with some couches. No table, no music, o games, noTV, no library. It is too small for thesize of hostel. The staff IS friendly and helpful. No laundry facilities, none nearby, and no good way to dry clothes washed in the sink. No internet. By a busy street that can be noisy. Social index is about4 on a scale of 1 to ten. no good roomates, no meet anyone!!! Good point. So huge there are often rooms available. Good location.

My stay was pleasant in general, and when I return to South Beach, I intend to stay there again. I found the key cards to work in an irregular manner, and though I heard about bugs in the beds, I had none, so cannot complain about this. The Kitchen worked, and the television room had a television in it. One cannot expect more. One thing I would like is a full-on air conditioned commons room instead of divided tables in hot musty areas. The TV room is always dark and the television is on. One cannot get everything, I suppose.
