International Budget Hostel

The hostel is in an old building, so it's got issues related to that. The stairs up to the reception area are nearly vertical. I can't imagine climbing those drunk! The floors smell like mould, obviously there is water damage from the showers, which are small. The rooms look old, with an unpleasant yellow paint on the walls. But, for value and a bed, it's location is great and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. This hostel is perfect for young guys who came to Amsterdam to party.

The hostel is right between the old town and the jewish quarter, so it's great location. It was probably about 20 minute walk to city centre. The kitchen facilities are great as well as the common room, it was a great way to meet people. They also provide milk, cereal, coffee and tea, which a lot of hostels don't do. The rooms were fine, it was clear that construction was still going on on some rooms and hallways. Some of the reno jobs did not look nicely finished.

huge hotel waay outside of town. This is not really in the city centre at all. The kitchen was small, but adequate. There was no atmosphere because it is so large, you don't see people mingle. The building was very clean, showers and toilets separate in the rooms, Awesome. It was cheap, but I would have paid more to be closer to the train station.

the main downside to this hostel is that the bathrooms are in the basement. I had to walk down 3 sets of stairs to use them. The showers down there also made it smell funny, like mouldy walls and bad ventilation. The location is ok, about 15 minute walk to the main square, but close to the metro line. The staff was not great. There was no atmosphere, even with a decent kitchen. The decor is somewhat contemporary and clean, so it came off as foreboding perhaps. Rooms were fine, clean.

Slightly more expensive, but worth the included breakfasts. Each bed also gets a key to a locker in the room- awesome. The bar and club in the basement was good fun, even on a Tuesday night. The common room had a great atmosphere, with cheap drinks. It was a great location, minutes from Leidsplein square. a great hostel, worth booking ahead of time!
