One of Britain's most excellent hostels, in a fantastic location, with superb staff and marvelous facilities. Extremely comfortable. Very welcoming staff. Superior in every aspect. Beds are of top quality (older visitors are advised to choose lower bunks) with feather comforters, top-quality sheets and pillows. Bathrooms are spotless and very well appointed. Great kitchen. There is a bar with music downstairs; those not accustomed to late night noise should be made aware of this in advance.
What a super place! Spacious, well appointed, comfortable and friendly. In a lovely setting, within decent walking distance of parks, trails, shopping, taverns and rail service. Very attractive lodge. Good staff. Super kitchen, lounge and bathrooms (but hey; push-button showers? A bit silly and annoying - until you find the one with a proper tap). This is a marvelous hostel at an appropriate price. Could use more electric outlets in the rooms. Altogether very satisfying, and I will be back!
Very comfortable, friendly hostel with great staff, good facilities, superior location. Fixtures and fittings are not new but are well cared for. Lounge and dining area are good. This is a solid and dependable place. Perfect for a short holiday in the Highlands.
Efficient staff in an older building that has seen many years of use. Facilities were acceptable; beds were ok; bathroom a little small and antiquated. No lockers available in room; take your valuables with you. This is a decent place for a single backpacker with no great demands. A bare-bones type of hostel that does the job. Yes, I would stay here again.
Third year in a row staying at one of London's best hostels! Great location; superior staff; wonderful old building (older travelers take note: Many flights of stairs). Beds comfortable; rooms spacious; lockers and safes great; superior kitchen; nice backyard patio (unless it rains). This is a marvelous place for backpackers, not marketed for teenagers or party groups. Bathrooms are clean but small (showers are very narrow). Earls Court tube and Night Bus 94 very close. I will return often!!

Standard hostel in good spot near downtown, bus and train stations, but not attractive locale. Neighborhood is dirty but safe. Hostel is old, fixtures worn out, but kitchen and lounge are excellent, spacious, well equipped. Coffee and tea always available. Staff are EXCELLENT, friendly, helpful, kind, welcoming. Prices are very good. Rooms, beds are OK. Lockers are small. Bathrooms are the big weakness. Not enough toilets and showers, very small space. Tiny sinks. Overall it's a decent place.
The Fort has again met every expectation and beyond. It is a genuine pleasure to stay at this marvelous hostel whose comforts far outshine those of any other hotel or hostel I have stayed at in the UK. Staff are as usual very helpful and welcoming, rooms are spotless and beautifully furnished, lounge and kitchen are superbly equipped. Bathrooms are still among the very best one may find. I expect to return many, many times. A word of caution: Kennedy's Bar downstairs is loud; plan to have fun!
Old building made very comfortable and welcoming in a charmingly slightly shabby style. Staff are absolutely wonderful and helpful. Room rates are fantastic for central London. Earl's Court Tube is only minutes away. Rooms have ample space; lockers are enormous with safes. Bathrooms are small. Lounge is comfortable and welcoming. Basement kitchen is fantastic and encourages social interaction. This hostel is excellent as usual. Warning: many steep stairs.
Super old building, decent rooms with comfortable beds and good quality bedding. Really excellent location, a short walk from Lime Street train station and situated at the top of the main downtown shopping district. Easy walk straight down to the docks, the pubs and shops, and the Cavern Club district. Very friendly and helpful staff, ready with a smile and a greeting. Excellent old-fashioned dining hall / residents' lounge, with coffee and tea all day, comfortable seating. Poor Wifi signal.
Absolutely top-notch hostel that I can recommend to anyone traveling to York. Superb staff, wonderful facilities, thoroughly excellent room and bath, and superior features. Wonderful lounge and kitchen, plus coffee and computer area. Bar downstairs was excellent. Room was immaculate, spacious, comfortable, very affordable and welcoming. "Wet-room" style shower was a little odd, but all modern fixtures. Marvelous location in the heart of the old city. Live music downstairs one night was good.
My first ever hostel stay and it was excellent! Friendly helpful staff. Marvelous old building. Great basement kitchen. Good atmosphere with other guests. Location good, a brief walk from Earl's Court tube station. Neighborhood is ok. Good pubs nearby. Close to downtown; easy travel. Room was crowded but comfortable. Bathroom a bit small. Everything clean. Fixtures and furnishings sturdy and comfortable. TV lounge was friendly. Stairs are tall and steep; be warned. This is a great place!
