Antique Hostel Bucharest

Bucharest, Romania

An amazing new hostel in a great location. Nice rooms, beds, bathrooms and common area. Fantastic kitchen with a solid free breakfast. Friendly staff who genuinely want to make sure you have a good experience. Only drawback was the need to be buzzed into the building each time. This is the place to stay in Bucharest!

Fantastic hostel in an unbeatable position. The dorm room is huge with a good view over the square. Fully functional kitchen if you need it and staff who are like old friends.

Big hostel in a popular city - I think they do a pretty good job considering this. My 3 nights in the 8 bed dorm were perfectly comfortable. Very good location, i thought.

I don't hand out high ratings willy-nilly, but there's something special going on at this hostel. I stayed during quiet season so perhaps I got more attention, but the staff/owners really go out of their way to ensure everything is good. The 5 bed dorm was huge, bathrooms and kitchen also spacious and the common room is just lovely. I could have moved in permanently!

Hostel Nina

Mostar, Bosnia And Herzegovina
97%

The other reviews are accurate - the family running this place is one of the most friendly in Bosnia! Little things that aren't part of the typical hostel experience (or 5 star hotel for that matter) are the norm at Hostel Nina. You'll feel like you are part of the family. Spacious dorm room, good bathrooms, warm, clean, fantastic. Thank you!

Good basic hostel, if a little cramped in the 4-bed dorm. Cool little common room downstairs. I would like to have stayed longer than my one night :)

Brilliant little hostel. Super clean and really nice staff - they know the local area well. The dorm beds are some of the best I've ever seen.

This place was spick.and.span. (That means very, very clean!) Spacious and immaculate dorm room, basic kitchen and great bathrooms. The young guy who owns/manages the place knows what guests want. Can't go past this place in Zagreb!

David Hasselhostel

Budapest, Hungary
86%

The Hasselhostel is out and proud as a party hostel - you've been warned - but if that's your thang then you're in pretty damn good hands. You could probably strike a decent balance between partying & laying low if you chose, as it's got a nice kitchen and a couple of common areas. The staff are... an eclectic mix. I thought they were alright! Enjoy!

Roman Holidays Hostel

Roman Holidays Hostel was miles better than the last place I stayed at in Rome. Crisp clean bedding, workable kitchen, cosy common room (with sports channels!) and the staff... Genuinely nice people. I don't want to get your hopes up but one night I was included in their pasta dinner (thank you!). If ever I'm back in Rome I won't bother looking anywhere else for a bed :)

I see that this hostel has received a flurry of 100% ratings (most from reviewers with only 1 review to their name)?? I mean it's a good hostel/riad but it certainly aint flawless. It would be above average for Morocco hostels, in my experience.

The Boutike Hostel

Wow. Where could I possibly fault this place..... perhaps only that it was a little quiet when I stayed so there weren't many people to share in it's awesomeness. I actually arrived at 9am after an overnight bus trip (well before normal check-in time) but no problem - I was given a coffee and allowed straight into my room! This is the hostel on which all other hostels should be judged. And I've stayed in a few.

Phoenix Hostel

The Phoenix may look a little rough around the edges and, sure it's not new & shiny. But it was the best of 3 hostels that I used in London. Decent location, good sized rooms, good common area (inc fridge & m\wave) and a small crew of excellent staff who are ready to help with anything. I'll be straight back here next time I'm in London.

This is a handful of flats with bunks jammed into the rooms. Its a hostel by name only. The 4-bedder was tiny, cheap bunks that squeaked and creaked if you so much as blink, shower/toilet room MINUSCULE. Fridge didn't work. At all. Had to ask for cleaning after nothing had been done for 3 days. No common area. POSITIVES: nice suburb & decent location. Sheets were clean, Wifi worked well. I've stayed in 30+ hostels worldwide & this is 1st time I'm compelled to review. It's that bad.

It's in a 'gritty' area, but I kind of liked that. Very well connected by nearby buses and tube. Excellent beds each with curtain, locker & plug. Ridiculously clean - rooms were swept/mopped daily whilst the washrooms were done twice daily! Its a big hostel which caters to groups which doesn't lend itself to backpacker-style atmosphere, despite having a lovely common area / bar.

Decent place to stay, as it's reasonably central. But when I stayed (early Sept) there were renovations underway, which meant that there was no common room. Also no kitchen. Apart from that the rooms were clean and staff were OK. Some rooms may face onto a busy street.

TAKE ME BACK TO PERUGIA FARMHOUSE!! I'd booked for 2 nights, but ended staying at least 7... I lost track of time because my stay at the farmhouse was so relaxing. It has a pool for Pete's sake! It's not in Perugia town (bus required) and you have to be self-sufficient but that's kind of the point. Go there. Relax. Enjoy. I hope the team (and the donkeys) are all doing well. Grazie!

Tasso Hostel

Florence, Italy
100%

I always wonder about these reviews that give 100% Surely no hostel is THAT good? Wrong - Tasso has nailed it. Some ppl might have a problem with the location being slightly distant from the main part of Florence but it's a lovely walk anyway. Aside from that you have amazing hosts/managers, a beautiful building (an old school!) which is always clean, great kitchen, unbelievable bar/common area (try Romina's cocktails!) and the dorm rooms ridiculously excellent (single beds!) Loved it :)

Brilliant little hostel. Full kitchen, good Wifi, good communal area on the balcony, great staff and great location. These are the type of hostels which attract my kind of travellers. But be careful - you might just fall in love with one of the staff! It was the georgous girl who cleaned the rooms who took my heart :)

Sidsmums Travellers Retreat

Carcassonne, France

Booked for 2 nights but ended up staying for 5! Understand that this is not a typical hostel & isn't located in Carcassone. BUT you will be rewarded with a very welcoming & relaxing atmosphere where you can choose to have privacy or make new friends. One of the best kitchens/communal areas I've had the pleasure of using. Get on 1 of the bikes and ride thru the vineyards and tiny villages. The most lovely and genuine hosts you could ask for. I stayed early August.
