The Elevator Hostel

Lisbon, Portugal

What seemed like a brand new hostel, with excellent shower and toilet facilities and beautiful view from the balcony and some great rooms for just hanging out. It's located only a short walk from the centre of the city but make sure that you've brought your walking shoes as it is halfway up a very steep incline.

Euphemia Old City Canal Zone

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam proved to be a difficult place for us to get value for money but this hostel is very well located. It's within walking distance of everything you want to see. There's not much in the way of charm or atmosphere but the rooms are clean, have lockers and we had a great night sleep( maybe because we were so tired by the time we reached Amsterdam). If only for one or two night this place is pretty reasonable and allows easy access to the city.

Hostel Ani & Haakien Rotterdam

Rotterdam, Netherlands

By far one of the nicest stays we've had on our trip. Newly opened by two really nice young girls this hostel oozes cool and really encourages socialising, but not in a getting drunk and loud sense. More like in a lets have a drink a talk with 10 strangers for a night sense. Rooms were clean and nothing special but the common area and kitchen are superb. We loved our stay here and the heart of Rotterdam is just a short walk away. Deifinitely worth staying if you are travelling in Netherlands.

Brussels Hostel Grand Place

Brussels, Belgium

The location was the real draw for us. You couldn't be any closer to the heart of Brussels. You have to check in at another hostel but it's not a big problem and when you do get inside this one it's pretty awesome. From the outside what looks like a run down building is immediately transformed into a quirky, cool, clean and functioning hostel. Definitely worth staying in if you are in Brussels.
