Wada Hostel in Guilin

Guilin, China

Don't judge a book by its cover! The look and feel of the surrounding area and the aesthetics of the hostel's building itself (slightly rundown and a little unloved) were poor indicators for the actual experience that we were to have there. Had everything a backpacker needs under one roof. Well set up, clean and the staff were very friendly and had good English. Good place to stay if you are planning a trip to Yangshou. Guilin itself has little to offer.

Thank you for your review! Unlike other hostels, who may not change their sheets for every guest, we pride in keeping a high standard of cleanliness and always change our sheets no matter how clean they may appear from the previous guest. Guests should have peace of mind in knowing that their rooms are thoroughly cleaned and beds are always made prior to arrival. We try our best to give our guests the most comfortable experience and we have absolutely everything you can ask for in a hostel.

Good points: Facilities in the communal areas are good. Appreciated help with booking flights and arranging a shuttle service to the airport. Bad points: Booked a twin room, but was given a sub-standard 'room on the ground floor right beside the back door which leads onto a busy and loud street. Hygiene was an issue, needs to be improved, particularly in the toilets. Terracotta tour was poor value for money and choice of lunch was limited and very expensive.

Ming Courtyard

Beijing, China

Good location if you want to experience the hutongs and good access to subway. Challenging to get a a seat in a restaurant. Would be good if you could book train tickets//flights through reception, staff we're not very helpful in that sense.
