We wish that we could have stayed at the Hostel Cat for longer! As student travellers, we enjoyed the social vibe that Hostel Cat had - the staff were all young, hip, knowledgable and friendly, the place was packed with youth from all over the world and there were night-time activities on every night to get involved in. The actual rooms weren't too clean but we didn't need that, just a place to stay. And the location was okay - 15min walk from the start of the strip and 5min to Fremont Street!
We were quite disappointed with our MBIH experience: We booked a month in advance and arrived to check in for our night in the famous party hostel and we were put up, not in the vibey hostel which we paid for and were expecting, but in their temporary apartment accommodation as a result of a water leakage in the hostel. We understand that this was out of their control, but were not offered a lower rate or any compensation for staying somewhere which was much further away and had no hostel vibe.
I LOVED my stay at the Miami Hostel. After traveling for a month, it was my favorite hostel in the USA by far. The staff were so friendly, helpful and down-to-earth. The communal area was very cool - bagel breakfast every morning, great kitchen facilities and incredible international social vibe. Walking distance from everything in South Beach, the location was great too! Bottle store next door and pool table outside area was buzzing every night with inter-cultural social activity. Loved it!
The Big Apple hostel was exactly what we needed as students needing a bed to sleep in for a few nights - the location could not be better - literally on Times Square! But that is about all there is to rave about. Our stay was comfortable: a spacious double room, wi-fi in the lobby and decent bathroom facilities. Only worries were security (just anyone can come chill in the lobby) and a funny smell in the lobby. So a no-frills hostel, but it was perfect for what we needed!
I really enjoyed my stay at DWH; the staff were really helpful. knowledgeable and friendly, guests were respectful and interested and the location was awesome - an easy scenic walk to all the big sites such as the Capitol building, the Mall and a mere 5minutes from Union Station. Pancake breakfasts were awesome - the hostel sleeps only 50 guests or so which meant that we all gathered around the table in the morning and shared stories - it was a really comfy, community, friendly atmosphere!
