Not sure why this place has such high reviews, our shower was mouldy and stank of it, the communal toilets were always pretty yuck. There is literally no room in the bedroom toilets im 5'4 and my knees were touching the wall when i sat on the toilet, too bad for my 6'3 boyfriend. No atmosphere, thought this place would have at least something on for Christmas day but alas nothing. Sure it looks pretty but its not all that great. Location was good next to the subway and kitchen was well equipped.

Excellent excellent excellent hostel. Great atmosphere, super clean, free things almost every day ranging from free tours to free dinners. (which was delicious) Lovely staff, one helped me find a hairdresser. The lights off policy to be honest was a god send, it got rid of that whole awkward 'when can i turn the light off without pissing people off?' scenario and was at a reasonable time of 11pm PLUS they had torches and bedside lamps so you could still see.

Home like feel, with a big kitchen. Dorm was large with very comfy beds and lockers. Couldnt get a hot shower in the evening though, but apparently i heard it was working in the morning? Staff were very helpful with laundry and printing etc. Very comfy and relaxing place to stay.

Standard YMCA hotel set up. Beds werent amazing, quite springy and the kitchen was often left by other guest in a pretty gross state. But overall it was a nice hotel, wifi was good and there was a good gym, 10-15 min walk to times square.

Private room was pretty much like a hotel, very modern, comfortable and clean. Was tempted to lift up the sheets and see where the mattress was from because it was that comfortable. Wifi was temperamental but whenever it wasnt working the hostels computers were fine. Bar was very good value, delicious and good sized meals at dirt cheap prices.

Overall a reasonably good experience. Have given a poor for cleanliness because on weekends the guest toilets were used by bar users which resulted in some pretty repulsive scenes to wake up to for your morning wee, especially as they weren't cleaned til late morning. Staff are excellent and helpfull, wifi was always at a more than decent speed and the building overall was beautiful with all the cool art. Private room was very accommodating. This place would suit even those who are a bit fussy.
