White and Blue

Essaouira, Morocco

We booked a private double room in White and Blue; when we arrived the owner insisted we had booked a twin room, and there we no other options available. That said, the beds were comfortable and the room was quiet and clean - we got a good night's sleep. The owner did give us a map and show us key landmarks which was useful. However, the place was very outdated. The facilities were minimal - a cramped bathroom, uninviting communal areas and very poor wifi. A cheap place to rest for one night.

Hostel Riad Marrakech Rouge

Marrakech, Morocco

Pros - Friendly welcoming staff who were always happy to help. They were v accommodating, letting us stay extra nights and cancel our tour last minute when we got ill with full refund. Beautiful common areas. Great breakfast. Cons - the hostel is cheap so don't expect much comfort. Beds were rock solid. Our private room v small and on the roof so HOT! Door handle fell off, toilet seats fall off, smelly drains. All could be fixed easily but no one does them.

Hi there and thanks for your review. It is definitely hot this time of year in Morocco, and as we don't have air-conditioning, yes, the rooms can get pretty hot too! Indeed as you say, it is an inexpensive hostel, and comfortable despite our prices. You would surely expect to pay more for airconditioned luxury. In terms of noone fixing anything - we are continually fixing and replacing such is the nature of a busy hostel. Maintenance is a constant, evolving process! Happy travels!

Intro Hostels Cusco

Cusco, Peru

Fantastic hostel, we loved our time here but one big point to improve... The playlist played at the bar was incredibly repetitive. We didn't like that the same music was played all day everyday. Also it would be nice to have more info on the city available in the reception eg. flyers, posters etc. Also fix the second computer.

You were so helpful with booking tours and providing information about San Pedro but the barman plays music too early in the morning and the cleaners were banging around in the kitchen at 6am.

O de Casa Hostel Bar

Sao Paulo, Brazil
63%

Pros - dorms are spacious with comfortable bedding, kitchen is reasonably well equipped, plenty of showers/toilets, excellent wifi, reasonable breakfast. Cons - style over substance in our opinion. Only 6 working lockers in an 8 bed dorm (staff werent bothered), shower doors were broken. Biggest problem - our dorm was right next to the kitchen and only separated by a thin glass door. VERY NOISY.

Backpackers House Paraty

Paraty, Brazil

This is without a doubt the best hostel we've ever stayed in. Clean and extremely comfortable (the hammocks inside and out are incredible, beds cosy and dorms not too packed), hostels well equipped with a great kitchen and TV/playstation/computer. The best part though is Pablo, the owner, who cooks big, very reasonably priced, group meals when the hostel's busy (including bbqs and all you can eat pizza with caipirinha!). Made our stay in Paraty a pleasure, would certainly recommend. Sad to leave

Walk On The Beach Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
69%

I can see why the reviews below are so good and indeed the service, location and safety of the hotel are all spot on. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, its a short walk from the beach, bus stops and metro, and they have a great security system to make you feel safe. So for a base in Rio it is great, especially if you are starting your travels as we were. For £10-15 a night we were definitely satisfied.
