Green House Hostels

Bariloche, Argentina

Like the Alaska Hostel, this is a great ski hostel with an owner, Brian, who will go out of his way to make your stay as worry-free and enjoyable as possible. They cook great family-style meals, have plenty of bathroom space, will lend you a bus card if you need it, keep the place impeccably clean, safe, laid-back and sociable. If you're going to Bariloche to ski, no need to stay in town--this is the hostel for you.

O Sorriso do Lagarto Ouro Preto

Ouro Preto, Brazil

This hostel was fairly bad. One of the two "rooms" we booked appeared to have once been a bathroom with the toilet and sink removed, and it only barely fit two single beds. Both rooms had paper-thin walls. We booked (and paid for) two private "ensuites," but were given rooms without their own bathrooms. Normally not a problem for me, but there was only one common bathroom for the whole place, and it was unisex. Location is convenient. Overall I'd consider this an okay last option in O.P.
