Always stay at the Safestay when in London. More of a budget hotel than a hostel. Great neighbourhood with a bustling high street and 2mins from the Elephant and Castle with the markets and shopping centre. Buses to the West End, Brixton and Westminster stop outside the Hostel. Decent continental breakfast and very comfy beds. A tip: explore the roads behind the Hostel down to Kennington Park where there are really nice small parks and community gardens.
Clean hotel type hostel in the centre of town. Should meet most travellers needs. Booked a single room - good price at £25 pounds. Was given a 4 bed dorm however which even without other people was a bit tight for space. Also the charging arrangement for the breakfast was not explained at Check In. For the price I thought it was average (especially the cooked items & awful coffee ) so ate elsewhere on later days. £1 charge for bag drop off I always think as being non customer friendly.
I recommend this hostel in a large former industrial building. Definitely the better of the two main hostels in Birmingham. Good location just off the City Centre close to the canal system and the Jewellery Quarter. Slightly difficult to find but OK if you follow the directions given. Nice kitchen, dining area and TV/Common Room. Pubs, shops and fast food places nearby. All rooms seem to be “on suite” only downside is that not all have lockers in the room for valuables.
Lollis is a great hostel experience. Staff are great and amenities cool. Perfect place to hand out with other travellers.
I wanted a place to explore the South of the river and this did the job. Slightly characterless but perfectly serviceable and better located & rated than the competitors I explored. Good size rooms and clean bathrooms in largish hotel style hostel. Location close to Elephant and Castle offers good transport links and there are welcome amenities on the Walworth Road and at the E&C shopping centre area (e.g. food and drink options) makes this a refreshing change to other London hostels serving the main touri
Very accomodating and a bit less hectic than the other Hatters around the corner. Also that they had a 24hr reception to allow me to book in late. Bit pricey for a hostel but the premium was for xmas. Support other comments about the need for better heating in the rooms. Also the beds are flimsy with very thin pillows. Other than that would recommend it.
Good place to stay in Munich located straight across from the central station. Note also that the neighbouring hostels (Jaegers and Eurohostel) both have age restrictions, so if you are over 35 wanting to stay in a dorm Wombats is the best option. One drawback is that there is no self catering kitchen. If that is important to you try Meinengers a further kilometre up the road.
Very good and well appointed hostel as per all Meinenger outlets. It is not central but only one stop or a 15 min walk away from the central station. To its advantage is the West End amenities (bars and shops) and the Augistiner Beer House across the road. The main advantage of this Munich Hostel however is the self catering kitchen, absent in those others clustered around the Hauptbanoff. Well worth visiting if you want to avoid the more youth orientated hostels in the City.
Good hotel in the middle of two others (Wombat's and Eurohostel). No lockers in the room but there are some full size lockers in the court yard. Informative reception staff and a lively bar at night time just off the reception area. Good all round hostel. Note there is an age limit of 35 for staying in dorms unless you agree it with the hostel beforehand.
Lovely hostel with a really chilled atmosphere. Pleasant breakfast included in the price as well as free internet. The hostel is 15 mins from the Old Town but is in a good neighbourhood with amenities. Recommended.
Nice hostel with good breakfast on offer. Note this is not in the centre of Cologne which is about 20 minutes away. Really liked the self catering kitchen.
Really pleasant hostel with helpful staff. Good breakfast for which you only pay for what you eat. One tip is to bring a good lock with you. The ones they hire out are too flimsy.
Very good YHA and the best I have stayed at in London. Great location for the west end. Really clean and well equipped self catering kitchen also. I would recommend it.
You have to take the rough with the smooth at this hostel. Pretty serviceable and clean but the noise at the weekends can be a severe drawback from the two adjacent venues. On the beds issue the (thin) mattresses seem to be designed for futons so for those with any back issues may wish to go elsewhere. Some general maintenance on faulty lights, locks, door handles, toilets wouldent go a miss. As others have said - it will do the job for one or two nights.
This place did not work for me and I was glad to get away. My room had 8 beds packed into a small space with a shower crudely placed in the corner and poor security (flimsy lockers). The common room is really lurid and packed full of old furniture and jumble. I will stay at Hatters when in Birmingham next time.
Lovely environment - really clean, well furnished and decorated. Loved the common area and kitchen. Would stay here again over any other hostel in Birmingham.
Really high quality hostel - has everything you need inc self catering kitchen, lockers and a bar with two periods in the evening offering happy hours pricing. Also u baun U2 is just across the road. Recommended.
HIgh quality hostel. Good cafe/bar, breakfast and nioght time bar. Only small grip is that there is no lockers for your day sack but there is a safe and small lockers in the rooms for valuables.
I liked it here and would stay again - liked the bunks and the curtains but is a bit of a task if you are in the bottom one clambering in and out. There were no lockers in the room I was in for some reason - the reception staff tried to explain to me that certain rooms did not have these. Basic Breakfast provided. Good to have a well equipped kitchen on our landing so I suppose that was the trade off.
This is an OK hostel but not the best in the range of MacPacker hostels in Scotland. Its a bit old and fusty but the facilities are good (apart from the awkward unisex showers) and the staff friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if in Fort William.
Lovely staff. Coulden't be more helpful. Great views over Plovidv in the heart of the Old Town. Breakfast a bit limited.
Nice Hostel with great staff. Bit noisey at the weekend when the nightclub two floors down sparks up. The reception girls were lovely and really helpful.
Lovely place. Nice, clean. Good Breakfast and convenient to the rail station and the drop off point from & to the Airport. 10 minute walk to the centre. I really enjoyed watching the DVDs in the common room on the big entertqainment system. Staff were really helpful to everyone there. Highly recommended.
Very nice place - excellently situated and well run. Access to bathrooms sometimes could be a problem but only occasionally. I would stay there again.
