Busan Kyungsung Hostel & Cafe

Busan, South Korea

location is about 5 minutes from the subway station. many bars and restaurants in the area. i stayed in an apartment suite with 2 shared bathrooms, which was regularly cleaned and well-maintained. the bathrooms are toilet and shower combined, so there can be a bit of a wait. you have to put a 10,000 won key deposit if you want to use a locker. some of the staff was very welcoming and others were not; i think it's because they are also guests but working part-time. overall a good stay.

Pumpkin Guesthouse

Seoul, South Korea

Conveniently located in a small alley near the Mapogu kiosks and main shopping street in Hongdae, but not too noisy at night. It's run more like a homestay than a guesthouse; there were a lot of long-term stay students with all their stuff strewn everywhere. Security is non-existent (doors are never locked and not enough lockers for everyone) and facilities are not cleaned daily. There are only 2 bathrooms and the shower and toilet are connected; the bathrooms could use more frequent cleaning.

Located about 10 minutes from the Ginza Line walking and very close to Kaminarimon. There are elevators which are convenient if you have a lot of luggage. The tatami room and futon was very comfortable and the shower/toilet was inside the dorm room with shampoo/soap provided. Definitely would stay here again!

Dozy House

Chiang Mai, Thailand

I had a wonderful stay here! The staff here is so hospitable and willing to go above and beyond to make your stay more comfortable. Mixed dorms are spacious with large lockers and adjacent bathroom- very clean. There is free use of the kitchen and free tea/coffee and toast/jam/butter as well. The staff can help you arrange activities and transportation during your vacation and on your way to/from the airport, which is only about 10 minutes away. Very homey. I would definitely come back again!

Lub d Bangkok Silom

Bangkok, Thailand

Definitely lives up to the hype! Facilities are extremely clean and very social atmosphere. There's a small theater where you can watch movies on bean bags and a personal travel assistant that can help you plan your itinerary. Only complaints would be the lack of privacy in dorms (no curtains) and very slow WiFi. The desk staff did not not give a proper tour so it was a bit of figuring it out on your own where the bathroom is, the services they offer, etc.

Rainbow Lodge HK

Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Location is perfect- right next to MTR station in Tsim Sha Tsui. It's in the middle of TST, but the building is much more quiet than say Chungking Mansions. The rooms are very clean with great privacy- curtains and personal locker. Bathroom is also clean and staff is nice and helpful. My only complaints are that the room has no windows and can get a bit stuffy and that bathroom sinks are quite small with a very low shelf above, so it's difficult to wash your face. I would definitely stay again!

H132 Hostel

Taipei, Taiwan

This hostel is GREAT! It's located in a quiet neighborhood, but only 1 or 2 stations away from all the action. Building is very secure and very clean. The staff is INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY and accommodating and very knowledgable about Taipei. There are towels for rent for 20 TWD, but make sure to bring your own shampoo and soap. Will most definitely be staying again!

Piece Hostel Kyoto

Kyoto, Japan

This hostel is great! Within 5 minutes walking distance from Kyoto Station. Very social common area, clean/private dorms with curtain and lamp, showers only on the first floor but extremely clean with shampoo/conditioner/body soap provided. The bed in the dorm is extremely comfortable. They lock up your luggage if you need to store it before/after check-in. Brand new Mac desktops to use at anytime. Will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Kyoto.

Sp@Itaewon Guesthouse

Seoul, South Korea

location is excellent- 5 minutes walk from itaewon station and close to many restaurants. didn't have security lockers as advertised. guests all were very friend and nice, but there is no security in the dormitories. bathrooms were kind of dirty and very little privacy in the dimly lit dorm. only some of the staff is fluent in korean, so the extent to which they can assist you is at times limited. at the end of the day, you get what you pay for, so for 15,000 won I can:t complain too much.
