Lovely place with wooden cabin dorms and a beautiful lounge area. Kitchen was a tad small and the rooms were SO hot. A 15-20 minute walk to Woolworths. The drop off to the Greyhound could've been scheduled a bit earlier for some busses as many travelled at once and they had to make several trips. Would definitely stay again!

Kitchen was like a sauna and when I told the guy in the reception that two of the fridges didn't work, he did nothing about it! The same guy said the ferries are a waste of time/he doesn't use them and they leave somewhere by the river (duh) when we asked about the free one. Everybody was dirty in the kitchen too. Rooms were a bit small but the bathroom was good. Had to pay for lockers in the room.

First person in reception was very helpful. The second was so rude and mouthy. Couldn't find hardly any kitchen equipment besides frying pans (plates etc for hire in recept.). Booked what we thought was a private private room but it was just a bed through a door off the dorm room.

Best beds so far in Australia. Awfully dirty kitchen with rubbish frying pans and not nearly enough of everything. Deposit for plates etc in reception was annoying with it always being busy. Had to check out early the night before and the guy in the reception was so off is head he didn't know what I was saying. And the next morning we had to wait for the kitchen to open for half an hour to get our stuff out the fridge.

We stayed at the room on the top floor, this is not a good option since alot of people party at the roof top. And our roomies didnt really care about anyone trying to sleep. No lockers in this room and no AC, so the door was pretty much open all day. Ok shower, clean linen, wifi only works for like 5 ppl at a time, no ladders to bunks, tiny kitchen. Alot of noise from the street. If you decide to stay here, bring your earplugs and eyemask thing.

The 8-share we were in had terrible matresses, it was filthy everywhere, there were no working blinds to the massive windows, if it rained it leaked down through one corner of the room. Another guy in our room had seen mice in the kitchen (!!!). The kitchen was badly equipped and it had holes in the walls and floor. The bathrooms were okay but the water had a tendency to go overwhere when showering. The pub is closed over the weekend! Close to Victoria Market and an okay distance to Fitzroy.

The girls shared showers were a bit grimey with the mouldy ceiling. The kitchen was well equipped but so small with that many people staying there! Great place to hang out at night with loads of activities offered and even food offered to purchase at the hostel. Only a 5-10 minute walk to Woolworths too!

Thank you for taking time to review Urban Central. I am pleased to see that on the whole, your stay was a pleasurable one. Since your stay, our toilets and bathrooms have had a make-over with improved lighting, along with a lick of paint. However, I fully appreciate that any form of mould found on the roof is not acceptable, and this matter has been raised with our cleaning staff. Again, thank you for your review, and hope to see you again one day at Urban Central!

The quilts didn't have covers and weren't washed when we left (?). Pluses for the free breakfast and free wifi! Also great information about what to do in the city.

Very thin walls so you could hear everything at night. The internet was also very expensive!

The internet cost is $5.00 per 24 hrs unlimited download and $15.00 for 7 day unlimited download. The walls are solid brick, 130 years old and about 60 cm thick in some places.
