An unusual but amazing and charming place to stay. It has a definite character and all the rooms are wonderfully decorated. After two weeks in bog standard hostels this was certainly a highlight to end the trip on. The location is good, a 30 minute walk from the centre, but easily accessible by tram. My only real issue was the lack of info. Check in time is 3pm, but nowhere does it mention this. The cafe was closed and I didn't realise there was a separate entry door - email didn't say!
Very pleasant stay here - it's a good size hostel and a great place to meet people due to all of the social space. Bedding wasn't amazing and the surcharge could quite easily be included/added on, but other than that a great place to stay. Breakfast was an added bonus too! Rooms felt secure due to the code locks and personal lockers which was great. Good kitchen area so great place to cook and eat and meet people. Location wise, very easy to get to the city centre with a supermarket nearby.
Very clean and great hostel. Location was a bit odd in an industrial area but very easy to get to via S-bahn. While it didn't affect me, it felt much more like a budget business hotel than a hostel. The Guest Kitchen was located down a warren of doors, and the lobby was always very quiet with what looked like business people coming and going. By no means a bad thing - just lacked the atmosphere of other Meininger hostels I stayed at.
Super close to the train station, very friendly and helpful staff and a very modern and clean hostel. For the price it's a steal. Rooms were fairly basic but comfortable - the guest Kitchen is fantastic with great facilities and the location is great, about a 10 minute walk to the city centre. Also, the WiFi was pretty fast and worked well. I think the main thing I was impressed with was the showers, absolutely amazing for a hostel! Would definately recommend and stay again.
The Guest kitchen is great and very well supplied/modern. The rooms are, as ever with Meininger, very clean and comfortable. The bar area is good and quite large so good for hanging out in, though due to the size not always great for meeting others. The hostel itself is located a bit out of town, 30 mins walk from the station. Not too far but a bit awkwardly located. However plenty of supermarkets near by which is always a plus.
Very clean and comfortable stay here. The location is a bit out of town but still walkable and close to public transport. The drawers in the room to lock luggage up in weren't ideal and didn't close properly, though this may have just been a one off. Due to the size the atmosphere wasn't fantastic in the bar but it's a nice place still to relax in and as I was only here one night may have just been an off night. The kitchen was very well equipped and easily accessible.
Staff were amazing and friendly, atmosphere here was very open and relaxed, felt right at home. Great place to meet people due to the social area and how open it is. Only stayed here one night but felt very safe and comfortable, and the location is fantastic for wandering into the city centre. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean and well provided. Would certainly stay here again! Only comment is it was a bit hard to find due to being in a big building, but may have just been me.
Rooms were great but the atmosphere in the bar always felt a bit dead.
The location is a bit out of town but has great views of the mountain and the castle near by is a great walk around. The kitchen area was a good size to hang out in but the actual kitchen had very little equipment - while tea and coffee was provided there were only 2 cups for the whole hostel! Room was nice and very quiet with ensuite facilities which was nice, though I don't think I'd stay here again if I returned due to the lack of atmosphere and location. No lockers in rooms either.
